“Sushi Hil @ South Main neighbourhood in East Van.IF you are not interested in food quantity or bang-for-your-buck analysis, this sushi boutique is the perfect place.  This is NOT the restaurant to bring people who are money conscious and don't appreciate the artistry of food quality at its finest.  It will kill the mood.The sashimi and chirashi plates are one of the freshest and best seafood quality I have experienced in a long time. I know what a good fish should taste like -- and this is it!  The combination of subtle umi (natural sea) and sweet citrus flavours create quite an exquisite food orgasmic experience, LoL. “Overall a good experience, plenty of courses and I left feeling overly full. I would say it's not quite as polished as Masayoshi in terms of terms of service and presentation. I also didn't appreciate having to ask multiple times for the price of drinks. I was left with the impression that i was being rude by wondering how much things cost. Given it's mostly bottle service, I think it's only fair to ask how much it might cost.“

“I came here with my fiancé for omakase. It was such a great experience as we had the whole restaurant to ourselves and sat at the sushi bar for the whole omakase vibe. It felt very special and intimate, the chef and his wife made us feel so comfortable. It was nice knowing details about each dish and the conversation was so effortless all while the chef was preparing every course. I love how most ingredient was imported and how each dish was specifically prepared a certain way, it was very well thought out.The pieces he would give were fat too, the chef definitely did not hold back. Usually we go to other omakase and we come out still hungry, but this one is worth every penny as you leave satisfied! The chef and his wife were so warm and friendly, even when we were late from the traffic! You definitely can feel the care and pride of the chef and his wife. When we come back to Vancouver we will be coming back here again.“

“Intimate traditional japanese omakase with fresh fish from Japan served as nigiri (12 different types); i am familiar with the different types of seafood served but for those who are not familiar with Japanese seafood names, it would be more interesting if Chef Maumi could interact more and introduce each dish. “The house special fried chicken was phenomenal. Absolutely perfectly cooked and seasoned. This little restaurant is just great at chicken. When we left, it was quite busy but didn't seem like a very long wait. The staff were very friendly and the food portions were quite generous.

Vegetarian options: The menu clearly marks the vegetarian options. I had the chicken so have no idea how tasty the vegetarian stuff is. The salad that came with my chicken and rice bowl was nice; well seasoned.“

“I arrived 10 minutes before opening and commend their efficiency for taking orders in advance, allowing us to receive our food right upon entering.It's an extremely clean, beautifully decorated gourmet restaurant with a luxurious setup, including the dishes.Personally, the premium pork cutlet was less impressive than expected (it's not that it wasn't tasty, it was good), but the cheese pork cutlet was truly delicious, featuring wonderfully melty cheese.Additionally, rice, soup, and salad are unlimited refills. However, it's disappointing that they didn't properly inform us about this.Lastly, the side curry costs $9, which seems expensive given the small portion and it being just sauce without any solids.“

“Tekkaba Omakase restaurant in Vancouver.Wow. Amazing experience. Where should I start? Service 5*. Music and entertainment 5*. Freshness of seafood 5*. But most importantly value for your money 5*. They were having a promotion for omakase and it was worth very penny! We had a 12 course meal with aburi sushi, sashimi, truffle pasta, tempura and so much more, served on little carts that came to our table. We were serenaded by the beautiful live piano notes of a talented musician while consuming our dessert and rice tea. I was blown away considering I have paid double the price at other super overrated places (ie Tojos) with a more mediocre experience. The live music and fresh food made it an evening to remember. “It is very difficult to find parking around the restaurant. I had to park a block away at the park.For dining in, you would pick your own table and order at the cashier. They will give you a numbered flag to bring back to your table.The server will bring you the menu and explain any specials or set menus.I ordered the lunch set with spicy salmon onigri, curry pork, and side dishes. With a yuzu orange lemonade.The drink was delicious. Not overly sweet with tartness.The food was good and bad. The spicy salmon onigri was great. The spiciness was not overpowering, and the seaweed was crunchy.The pork curry was disappointing. There was no rice with the curry. The flavour was bland. Only 2 small pieces of pork.The side were okay.“

I'm always up for trying new things but I've been burned before, so I had no expectations.OMG! The steak bowl that I got was SUPER delicious and TENDER!
