“Great food and service! We went with some friends and the owners gave us samples of their delicious dips with pita bread. The spitfire chicken salad bowl was delicious. We had kalamari steaks and falafel too. Very delicious. We will definitely be back. Reasonably priced good food.”
“Absolutely loved this place. Honest to God I forgot what I ordered but damnit it was good. Great sub, cool spot, fast service. You can't beat it for a lunch spot.”

“Was a great old school establishment. We were seating next to a multi-generational family of 14 which was both fun and super loud. Hard to hear anything other than them. Was our first time at the Iron Gate and overall we thought it was very fun and tasty.”
“Alpha Acid is the closest brewery to us and we are SO lucky! We came our first night after moving to Belmont and we’ve never looked back. They excel at sours, IPAs, and dark stuff and are always releasing new beers. The vibes are great, too, both for the people working there and the people drinking there. Drink here!”

“Delicious staples time after time for the 6 years that we've had the pleasure of grabbing takeout and ordering party sized trays from here. Tip for trays: order at least 3 weeks out, and then if the staff doesn't give you a confirmation call the day prior then go ahead and call the restaurant after 8p to confirm.I could not find broccoli and egg tofu with brown gravy on the pre-filled recommendations list, and or should be :)The courteousness and the food itself have kept us loyal customers, this review is a long time coming!”

“Vegetarian / vegan wrap perfect for Good Friday. The Turkish double espresso was delicious and not gross like the bitter American roasters. I got fries, but did not realize lentil soup is on the menu. Next time. Operated by family, doesn’t get better than that.Dietary restrictions: Halal”

“My family and I came by 3 weeks ago and they were great. Awesome atmosphere the service was great. The owner was helping out. They make great use of the space. The food was terrific. We ordered two godfather burgers, an impossible burger and sliders. Everything was to order. Having an impossible option was awesome. We can't wait to come back. I think I will ask for my bun toasted but other than that I have no complaints.”

“A hidden gem and great sandwich spot overall. I called ahead to place an order for my sandwich and it was ready in about 15 minutes. I heard the wait can be up to 30 minutes so try to plan accordingly if it's lunch hour! I got the Turkey sandwich with everything on it which comes with a great garlic spread and fresh vegetables and bread. Staff is always very friendly whenever I come here, and the ingredients are always fresh. Keep in mind the limited hours during the day. Definitely recommend!”

“The food was excellent-deluxe Chirashi bowl was loaded with a variety of fish, a little uni and a sweet tender spotted shrimp. I really enjoyed the rice as well. My companions had the Kikoro roll and the tuna mango roll. Both were beautiful & delicious. Service was quick and professional. Love it. I will definitely come back again.”

“I don’t usually like falafel but I love the falafel from here- it doesn’t taste greasy at all & the toppings they use are very flavorful & fresh! I’m not a vegetarian but the serving sizes here are quite filling & the flavor combo of their toppings with the falafel is very satisfying! I don’t think I’d ever had falafel dishes quite like how they do here, in a really good way! There isn’t seating so this is more like a take-out spot. Perfect for if you’re looking to grab something to go. Service is always really friendly & super quick! One of our favorite spots to pick up lunch or a light dinner! I love their pita pocket, baklava, hummus, and mango milk!”

“I am very unhappy with them because 3 months ago I was out of country and lost my son here, my other son and my sister got the memorial in shalizar for my son unfortunately all the invited people were complained from the food which was old khorsht had a little meet and was shredded like wormed up ten times over and the rice was old and mashie . I do not believe they charge my son $65 00 a head for only khorsht ,kabob kobedh and chicken kabob plus sald and soft drinks after the discount from $75 (.because we are old customer and my Husbend helped them at time to find place In San Mateo and all so advertised for the ) I believe they worked so hard to get were they are now they did beautiful job but not any more , every thing is not only Money I had the secand memorial for my sons in anther Iranian restaurant 190 people only $50.00 a head service and food was excellent fresh lots of food not even one complaint. I wish you guys were good as before and we do more business with shalizar Sorry shahla Moktari”

“I travel for work so I have only been here for about 7 months now. I came here one day to get breakfast for take out and it was so good I have been coming here at least 2 -3 times a week. I would probably come 5 days a week if they were open past 3pm. From the looks of the menu they have a lot of choices, but me being a creature of habit I tend to order the same thing EVERY TIME. And every time I order it is always great. I come here so often the manager knows my order( the eye opener w/ scrambled eggs , ham, and blueberry coffee cake). Service is fast. I have never waited more than 10 mins for my order, Even when it is busy. Food is really good. The portions are very generous. I never eat the whole coffee cake because it is a HUGE piece of deliciousness ?. My eggs are always cooked to perfection which is a big thing to me. I do not like runny eggs.So overall food is good. Atmosphere there looks good. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Special shout out to Modesto who always knows my order.”

“Not only one of the best sushi restaurants in San Fran, one of the best I've enjoyed anywhere. What makes them special is they have a nice variety of fish, some of which I've never tried before. If you go, I hope you'll experiment and try some things you've never eaten before. I only wished we lived closer.”

“Amazing cutting skills were demonstrated and exhibited here tonight. Ordered deep fried squid. What we got was the extra fat deep fried batter. The squid was cut as thin as (actually thinner than) bamboo chopsticks, just like angel hair spaghetti. Enjoyed batter. Really good batter. Excellent batter. $14 batter. The string squid was used just to hold deep fried batter together. Nobody ever thought of this unique cooking technique. New invention in the Chinese culinary world. I highly recommend this restaurant BOTH to the culinary cutting skill lovers AND to the deep fried batter lovers. What a hidden gem in the Bay Area. I'm speechless. I will definitely come back again.”

“Stopped by this place to grab some dinner, and their "wet style" super burrito sounded like just the thing. Me and my girlfriend both got one with different meat options to split. The service was not particularly friendly, but that may not be the case if you happen to speak fluent Spanish. So, your mileage may vary there. That said, we were absolutely not prepared for how super the "super burrito" actually was haha. You can see in the pictures I took, the burritos were enormous. They were really good, though! Just prepare yourself for one of the largest burritos you've ever seen in your life if you order the super burrito.”

“Best pizza on this side of the bay! My husband and I have been ordering from Slice House since it opened here and the pizza is always a solid 10. Great flavor, great quality, and the perfect amount of pizza for the price. Service is great too! “I've driven by this place a few times, and it's always pretty packed, and parking can be hard. I really wanted to try the bacon wrapped tater tots. I decided to place an order to go. I placed my order over the phone. The gentleman was super nice.Upon arriving, parking wasn't too bad at that time. Inside, it was pretty packed but had an inviting vibe. The guy at the bar was the one who actually took my order. Super nice guy.I ordered:1. Bacon wrapped tater tots - It tasted pretty good. Simple, something you can make at home, but it hit the spot.2. Sliders - A little greasy then I'd want, but I'm sure if you're eating it while drinking, it hits the spot”

“The food was delicious, we had some of the best wine we’ve had in ages, the service was prompt and professional, and the atmosphere was lovely. This place is such a gem. We’ve tried a few paellas around the bay and this was easily the best (Zuzu in Napa was excellent as well). It reminded me of some of the best meals we’ve had in Europe, and I’m just waiting for some family to visit to have an excuse to go back.”

“A group of us go for trivia on Wednesdays and we love the vibe! The trivia is a great mix of difficult and doable questions which makes it fun. The staff is friendly, the owner came up and introduced himself the first time we went in and now stops by to our table to say hi. They have a little kitchen that they rent out (I think) and the food that they serve is yummy! not sure if they've changed the menu since I was last in, but they didn't have chicken as a meat for the tacos which was a bummer since I don't eat red meat/pork.”

“The food was pretty good, the ingredients were fresh but the prices where high. So overall, while I appreciate this restaurant option in our neighborhood, the price will probably keep me from coming back again. We got the chicken wings (excellent flavor), pad Thai with shrimp (pretty fresh, though lacking excitement), Penang Curry (our least favorite dish because its consistency was more of a soup than a curry), and mango sticky rice (we liked it although it didn’t seem authentic as the mango was hard and tasted more like an apple than a Thai mango). The total including tax and tip was $92.Kid-friendliness: High chairs for kids. Hand wash sink outside of the restroom.”
“Excellent flavors and delicious additional treats you can add to your fro-yo. I tried blackberry, vanilla, chocolate, and cookies and Oreo flavors. Everything was yummy and perfect.”

“A hidden gem for amazing, unique Filipino sandwiches for $10. Zero-wait made to order burgers that are worth the trip. Pork Longganisa - super juicy, aromatic and tender. Probably the best pork patty I've ever had. Unlike the bistek, the flavors here are classic and familiar. It's a solid sandwhich that I would universally recommend. Bistek Burger - I would consider this the specialty item of this food truck. The beef burger is incredibly juicy, and best enjoyed while it's piping hot. The special sauce is the star of the show, with a slight tartness for balance and incredible depth of flavor with a calamansi-forward accents. The burger is bold, assertive, and super unique. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new. At $10 a burger, the food is priced really aggressively. Whether it is to attract early customers, or make a competitive dent in the inflation-driven price hikes of other vendors, this small, local business is offering a great deal! I would take advantage while they are still low-key. It's only a matter of time before it really takes off.”
“Great place. Very low key which is what I like as opposed to loud with obnoxious drunks. He keeps those guys (and occasional girls) out. Bartender/owner Justin is a great guy. I see other reviews saying he only pays attention to friends. Simply not true. There's a saying, close mouths don't get fed and this is no exception. If you ask or wave him down, you will get served. He's not just gonna stare at you till you finish your drink like people want. He will walk up and down the bar to make sure you're good or if you need anything then go and resume conversation with customers whether it be friends, regulars or newbies like I was. Has been my go to place for a month and a half now and am saddened that I was in the area temporarily and won't be in as often. Do yourself a favor and hit this bar up. Quieter than most bars but great selection and plenty of food in the area!! Some of the regulars are great too. Not territorial like other regulars in other bars. Made me feel welcome as hell there. Go play pool with those guys. Lots of fun. Thanks a lot Justin. You are the man!”

“I only heard about Chris' New Harbor Bar a few weeks ago as a Thursday night karaoke bar. Then found its owned by a Greek-American family that was celebrating Greek Independence Day that next Saturday. As I'm also Greek American I had to check it out. I like to say I support my own. The bar isn't a restaurant but George (the owner) and his family went out of their way to cook a feast of lamb, trigona, pastitsio (Greek lasagna), rice and traditional Greek salad, not to mention the blue tinted Ouzo flowed like water with a DJ playing modern and traditional Greek music. The house was full of Chris' regulars all having a great time. Even as it was my first visit I never felt out of place and all the clientele was welcoming and friendly. So, the following Thursday I made the 40 minute trek back from San Ramon for Karaoke night. Again, more regulars and most with pretty good voices. I had read several reviews about Chris' New Harbor Bar before my first visit. While most were happy regulars and cheerful first timers there were a few cranky patrons who just put it down as a dive bar and didn't like anything about it.As I mentioned earlier, I support my own, but I support any establishment that celebrates it's founding culture and goes out of it's way to put on a spread as George and family did the weekend before. And when you walk in it's a very American establishment, no one feels out of place. This is what a local bar is all about. My Thumbs Up to Chris' New Harbor Bar!”

“During the pandemic ordered takeout from here many times as they offer dinner bento boxes for around $20 for 3 items. They have their own website to order online for pickup (they do not deliver). Their food is pretty good and consistent quality, usual choices I select are katsu, saba shioyaki, California roll, spicy tuna roll, mix tempura, or beef short ribs. Bento box also include rice, miso soup and salad. Wait staff are friendly when picking up order. Plenty of free parking is available in shared lot of business plaza.”
“Drinks are a bit expensive for low income to buy, but it tastes so good and services are excellent. I really like the services that I received from Gabby, the manager here today (03/18/24). They were closing the store, but she still made my drink when I asked to made me one. I really appreciate her kindness. Cameron, another person who works there too. He didn't seem to welcome me, but it was acceptable because he was trying to close the store because they had been so busy today and I didn't blame him on that. Overall I am satisfied with the services and snacks there. I always like to come here because it is convenient and the customer services are excellent with all employees who work here treated me the same. If they are continuing to make this great services, I will always come back to be their customers. I think the drink is not expensive in my opinion because I used to buy a big bag of frozen fruits from Costco and I only can made a few cups of drinks from that big bag. I am very happy to pay for the convenience, the great delicious drink and the most important things are the services that I always get treated nicely and fairly here. I love it”

“A very enjoyable experience. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. I had the Corned Beef Hash breakfast with two eggs, potatoes, and English muffins. The service was very good and my server was quite friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.”
“Another reviewer said that they had the best carne asada tacos they had ever had. I didn't have the same experience and found their carne asada to be too dry for my taste. HOWEVER, their carnitas tacos and pescado tacos are incredible!! Their carnitas are probably my favorite out of the literally hundreds of taquerias I've even at. Their carnitas are crunchy on the outside but moist in the middle and they're very consistent! I eat at Jika's about once a week and have the same happy belly experience every time.Their pupusas are also very good and part of my regular rotation.Tip: Their burritos come with grilled onions and bell peppers. Kinda cool if you're in the mood for a fajita burrito but I usually ask them to hold the bell peppers for a more standard burrito.”

“Really cool hideaway type location! I am vegetarian and I ordered the wrong type of veggie sushi. It was too seafood tasting to me but they noticed and helped me get a avocado and cucumber roll without seaweed which was delicious. They have soda, beer, tea, apple juice. Yummy! ?Vegetarian options: Just order without seaweed if you do not like a fish or seafood taste. Also no seaweed salad :)”

“I had the most amazing experience here! The ambiance is nice, the food is great and service was fabulous. I visited on a day that included a blessing. It was so enlightening to be eating a meal as the monks prayed. It felt so amazing in their presence. There are no words to explain the atmosphere, you had to be present to really feel it. I had the yellow curry and Thai iced tea. It was very good. I felt really blessed to experience this amazing opportunity. I would definitely recommend.”
“Normally I don't like to write reviews but I thought this needed to be brought to the public and managements attention. I went to get Ice cream on 1/22/24 at around 8:10 pm, normally I am hesitant to go on Mondays because of the notorious small scoops :( BUT today I came in and saw a new worker I had not saw before. The girl in front of us seemed to know her and said that it was her birthday and the worker who I believe was named Serong??? Gave her a birthday worthy scoop. Then we ordered she was SO polite and she gave us a good scoop. All around the best worker I have experienced at this location. All hail the ice cream queen!! This girl needs a raise!!”
