“My wife, Sara, and I dined at The Proper last night. It was our first time there. I had very recently become aware of it on Yelp. We were treated very well by our server, Connor, and by another man, whose name we do not know. He probably was an assistant manager. We asked him about the history and the décor of the restaurant. He offered to have the owner stop by our table to answer questions he was more in a position to address. The owner, Rick, did come by and we had nice chat. Rick and his staff are terrific folks. And we really enjoyed the food. Sara had the chicken piccata and I had the jambalaya pasta. We enjoyed a bottle of Sonoma Cutrer chardonnay and the warm butter toffee cake for dessert. It was an all-around terrific evening. Sara wants to try the miso salmon next time and I will probably order the blackened shrimp tacos. Another thing that’s a plus is that we don’t eat red meat or pork - we’re fish and fowl only – and there are many items on The Proper’s menu that we can eat. And we may elect to dine in the bar on our next visit, which is really cool and charming.“

“The little plates are yummy. I love the pita bread that came with the hummus (Salatim plate). The other plates were good also. I loved the bread pudding (I think it's better than the best cake). What I like the most about Bacari, besides the beautiful ambiance, is the friendliest staff.“

I came here solely for the noodles made in collaboration with Keizo Shimamoto from Shimamoto Noodle Inc. They are really the star of the bowl. The tonkotsu gyokai broth was alright, but overall, this was one of the better tsukemen you can find in Socal imo.The Smoked Dashi Ramen, on the other hand, was quite weird. It starts off fine but the longer you take to eat it, the fishier the broth will get so get ready to slurp fast ?“

“I went to Lonely Oyster with three amazing friends for dinner last night and we all had a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable, and the food was to die for! Caesar salad = delicious, oysters were perfection, the calamari was the best I've had--just the perfect amount of crisp and flavor, and the cream sauce was sooooo damn delicious I wanted to lick it out of the ramekin when I was done with the calamari! The Australian wagyu ranchera was cooked just right and oh so tender and scrumptious--just the right amount of that perfect salty flavor! Very addictive taste! The grilled mushroom skewers were so damn delicious and had a nice grilled flavor to them, and the espelette chimichurri was a divine addition. My favorite overall was the lobster mac n cheese! Overall: 10/10 and I would recommend this to upscale foodies and surf n turf newbies alike! Highly recommended to all! “Cool vibe in the main street area of Larchmont! Stopped here for a quick drink after shopping in the area. Got a Michelada and Sangria! The Michelada had a nice kick and served with their own beer. The Sangria was good too and not overly sweet. Lots of cute and small boutiques nearby. Definitely would come back, and try some of their food!“

Decor is modern with a chic feel, and though this spot doesn't serve food there was an amazing pizza truck out front which they allow you to eat inside the bar. The parking was a little tricky, but we found parking on the street (not sure if there was additional parking in the back somewhere). I enjoyed looking at their wall art - very LA. “I made a Resy reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Street parking was accessible and convenient a few steps away from the location. Once we walked in, I was greeted by first name by the host behind the bar who directed us to follow Lisa, our server, to our table for two in the garden patio. Once seated, she asked if we'd like to turn on the heated lamp, which we appreciated. We ordered the Hunan BBQ Pork Ribs (so meaty and smoky), Chilled Sesame Peanut Noodles (which my wife commented would be an ideal dish during a warm summer night), Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi (served on a toasted, pillowy brioche bun), paired with a side of the Shoestring Fries. Lastly we enjoyed an unexpected gift from the kitchen - Shanghai Triple Onion Noodles, which was a warm dish in contrast to the other cold noodles. As a thoughtful gesture, the bartender, offered us two glasses of champagne to acknowledge our occasion. To cap off our unforgettable meal, we ordered the Hochija Tres Leches and Honeymoon Bread Pudding. The perfect conclusion to a delicious and well-thought out dinner. For a location with a history dating back to the prohibition era (informed by Lisa), I'm glad to see it's continuing it's life as a bar with an innovative kitchen. Queso fresco and feta fried in the crispiest wrapper is a match made in heaven.Grape leaves are also a wonderful appetizer, especially if you're like me and could accidentally put away 12 of this if not paying attention.I often find falafel to be disappointing in restaurants and much better homemade, but Skaf's falafel would give even the best homemade falafel a run for its money. The texture is exactly how it should be - crisp, crunchy exterior with a soft (but not gummy) interior. The falafel is also jam packed with flavor and surrounded by insanely well executed tabbouleh (perfectly seasoned), cabbage salad, hummus, and babaganouj.
