“I absolutely love this place! They serve the finest hot and sour soup in LA, and their fried rice is simply exceptional. It's my preferred spot for delicious Chinese cuisine. The online service is friendly and accommodating. They prepare all their dishes fresh, and what I appreciate most is that they personalize the spice and sourness of the soup and rice just for me. Highly recommend!“

“Ok. Let's say the teriyaki is pretty good. I would probably go back just for the chicken. But the rice? Just for the fact that it's not sticky enough. That's why they are getting 4 stars instead of 5. The rice is the the most important dish when you talk about Asian food. Last time someone mentioned on my review of another Asian place about the rice that it was 'just rice, not a big deal' But that's because they didn't know the important role rice plays in the Asian meal. Even though my standard for rice is too high, please don't blame me.“

“I stopped in and got the Shrimp Tempura hand roll and the Spicy Tuna hand roll, and I absolutely loved the Spicy Tuna roll so much! It had such good flavor and when I added the soy sauce, it was definitely on and popping! Yummy, I can't wait to try some other menu items.“

“Amazing food and unique and healthy options! If you are watching your carbs, they have rolls that are wrapped in cucumber or soy paper instead of rice. Such a nice option and they tasted incredible! We had a variety of dishes ordered at our table. The jalapeño appetizer was incredible and not something you’d typically see at a Japanese Restaurant. The bento box was a fantastic way to try 3 different proteins that intrigued us without ordering way too much food. The edamame has a sauce that’s on the sweeter side, but is still quite enjoyable. The portion sizes are wonderful and the staff is very freshly and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful experience!Dietary restrictions: Low carb“

“Loved every single thing we ordered here! The quality of the sushi was seriously melt in your mouth. Parking absolutely sucked, we drove around the blocks multiple times until we came up on street parking behind the alley somewhere. It wasn't terribly busy, got there around 7:30 and was seated in 10 minutes as parties were leaving. The yuzu roll was such an explosion of beautiful flavors combined in your mouth, 10/10 recommend for yellowtail lovers! Ambience was dim, not too noisy and the music was quaint. Would definitely come back to this place next time I'm in the area.“

“Kurisaki is a very authentic Japanese restaurant, with an interesting, focused menu and great preparations. It feels like a family runs it ... they really care. We got pretty basic choices (I was with my 17 year old) but it was great: the California roll was real crab, the spicy tuna crispy rice was amazing (you have to see it) and the Toro roll was great. Our neighbors got omakase menu and it looked awesome. It also seems they have a good sake menu. It is a small place so I would make sure to make a reservation.“

“The fish is fresh. There are plenty of creative rolls to pick from. The staff are prompt. The sake list works (enough variety and not too expensive). My only complaint is the dining room was warm (too warm). Not a big deal, but the only "note" for improvement.“

“This is indeed a hidden gem in a Gardena mini mall. Their two or three item combo are like a do it yourself bento box with a multitude of choices to pick from, including tempura, teriyaki, salmon and even sushi. All choices come with a small salad, miso soup and rice! Everything is freshly prepared and the service is always friendly. There are some tables to eat there too. We love this place“

“Old school Japanese/Hawaiian food. Get your fix for some saimen, teriyaki, spam musubi, manapua (char siu bao), or just some boiled nuts. Make sure to leave room for shave ice (or just come for that!!!). They've been slinging the ono grindz for over 40 years! (they use to be over in the old Pacific Square)“

“I went here based on a friend who works in the areas recco. She wasn't wrong. The fish tastes fresh and the specialty rolls are great. Also, reasonable prices. I spend more in Venice and Santa Monica for less quality. No more. Also, their staff is very nice and their establishment is clean.“

“Oishi desu!! (It's delicious) I found this place by just searching for Japanese food near the botanical garden up the street. Needless to say, my search didn't fail me. The omakase meal set was so good!! We went here for Valentine's Day and I made a reservation a week ahead of time, just to be safe, but I don't think it was necessary. I think walk ins were being accepted. We both got the omakase set, one NY steak and one filet mignon. So good! Cooked to perfection. Ending the meal with dessert, we had a wide variety of selection. We got one green tea crème brûlée (WHICH IS SO GOOD! Would come back just for this) and one mango cake, which was also so good, tasting like a gummy. Overall, this place is presentable, and also surprisingly affordable for what you get. I would come back here for a special occasion.“

“Great location. I wasn't expecting much from this spot as I had never been here before. However I was pleasantly surprised with the depth of flavor and quality of the food as I received my chicken teriyaki bowl. Keep up the good work!“

“We've been coming here for many years. The go-to order for us is the Ox-tongue, Slightly Salted with Green Onions. Other good choices are the Skirt Steak, Liver, Garlic. Be warned it does tend to get smokey inside, so you'll come out smelling like bbq. Plenty of parking in the lot. Reservations help on weekends.“

“Came here with a friend during Dine Long Beach week and tried the special. I really liked the atmosphere, location and service were all great. As far as the food, both my friend and I felt the fried oysters were soggy, and the shrimp and egg sushi were really dry. I'd rate the food 3 stars but bumped it up to 4 for service and ambience. I'd try it again but maybe with something of the regular menu.“

“This is a hidden gem! Looks like a place most people wouldn't look at twice, in a broken down shopping center attached to a laundry mat between Savers and the T-shirt store. The chef is a food artist, all his dishes are nice to look at and taste amazing. I had the spicy pork bowl, My wife had the number one salad, gioza and tempura mix. She loved her food and so did I. This is about our third time here and we're very impressed with everything. I must try“

“I went to the Red Rock in Sawtelle often before it closed, but I'm so glad that their Torrance location is still open! I can't recommend enough the sliced beef don with the raw egg for how flavorful and tender the sliced beef is after it is slowly roasted. I think this is one the most unique beef cuts I've ever had and not a lot of places cook beef like that, so it's definitely a real treat. I also really enjoy the omurice with hamburger steak and demiglace sauce because the egg omelette is so fluffy, the sauce so rich with a hint of sweetness and the steak so juicy and flavorful. Everything mixed together just meshes really well in both flavor and texture from the egg, rice, sauce and steak. It is one of the best omurice dishes I've had. This place does run kind of expensive and the portions are not very large, but I personally think it's still worth it because of how well they execute their dishes.“

“Takoyaki is so yummy. Gindaco is a hot spot-o Cheese and mentaiko Takoyaki was a banger. Nothing like the impossible cheese pull with every bite while you haffsahaffsahassfa because you forgot the inside of Takoyaki was too hot. But really, the cheese and mentaiko just elevates their Takoyaki which is already so good to begin with. I could easily eat 8 in one sitting but my girlfriend forced me to share with her. Maybe next time I'll secretly order another for myself so I can enjoy Gindaco to the max.“

“I have been enjoying meals at Okane Umi since 2016. They have always been excellent in every category of service. The restaurant has had its share of ups and downs but I am happy with how strongly Okane Umi has powered up its menu and added some wonderfully flavorful genuine Japanese dishes. Im pleased they have reinforced their sushi, sashimi, chirashi offerings - I love this restaurant.“

“If you have good taste in katsu then this is the place for you. If you don't then byeeeee. I love this place because it reminds me of this famous spot in Tokyo, called Butagumi. Both of them share this premium flaky crispy batter on the outside which I love. I know most katsu uses a thicker more dense batter but I prefer this. I will DEFINITELY be returning. If I had to describe how the batter is, it almost looks like bonito flakes were fried on it, but that's a good thing with the flakiness. The katsu does take a little bit of time to make as I'm under the impression it's fresh but in my opinion worth the wait. You can always go shopping in Tokyo Central for a little or order a snack at one of the other food places. This location is inside the Tokyo Central and to the right of the entrance. Parking: free lotSeating: indoor table cafeteria styleWifi: noPayment: card or tapVibe: food court diningDress code: casual. But be warned your clothes will smell like fried food after you leave.“

“Cool little sushi shop in a random little plaza right smack on Wardlow and cherry . I believe it's all other food places here in this small plaza so there is parking available to patrons. I have been here on 3 different occasions & have done both dine in & take out ! Usually a creature of habit so have got basically the same thing every time and it's been the crunch roll , gyozas, & miso soup & they smack every time. Service here is good , it's always the same lady and she's very nice. I've noticed they have lunch specials but have not come on during those times ! Plenty of room to dine in . Very nice and neat in there !“

“This review is from a single father and my 11 year old daughter. We come here often and let me say first we LOVE it here. Their food is so good, but there is something missing ?. Here are our suggestions a few salt shakers or individual tiny salt packs available for us to use specifically on the edamame. Our biggest recommendation is that they offering a dessert item, our suggestion is a Rice Roll with Vanilla Ice Cream and Mango slices in the middle with Chocolate and Condense Milk drizzle ?? or a Mochi Ice Cream ( Basic ) ?Edit:from 3 out of 5 to 5 out of 5 now because of the reply ?“

“Amazing place. Very small and intimate. The food is superb. The lotus root stuffed with chicken and the shiso leaves stuffed with chicken are worth a trip. Chicken meatballs are top notch. Chicken liver is also very good. A very nice selection of sake at reasonable prices. They have a 300ml of Kubota Manju Junmai Daijingo for only $55. Service is friendly and professional. Very reasonably priced. Food was $80 for 2 and we ate quite a bit. This is a very small and popular place where groups often linger. Reservations are a must.“

“My first review! My visit here last night was nothing short of a revelation in the art of sushi dining. Celebrating its 17th year, this gem of a restaurant has not just stood the test of time; it has set the bar for what authentic Japanese cuisine can embody. Though it is not your modern izakaya nor fine-dining luxury, it firmly facets itself as the "OG" restaurant in the diverse Japanese dining scene. Immediately upon entering, I observed details of its classic entity by old decos of art, calligraphy, signs, photos, and handwritten notes. It was an ambiance that exuded warmth. I immediately felt the history and dedication woven into the fabric of this place. The owners have crafted not merely a restaurant but a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer nuances of Japanese culture and cuisine. I opted for the sushi combo course. Each piece of sushi was a testament to the chef's mastery over his craft, with every ingredient shining through in a delicate balance of flavors and textures with a properly curated course. All the nigiri boasted freshness in a blend of tastes that was above satisfactory by the plate. But what truly sets Sushi Anza apart is the heart and soul poured into every aspect of the dining experience. From the attentive, yet unobtrusive service to the meticulous presentation of the dishes, you can feel the love and dedication that the owners have for their craft. It's this personal touch combined with an "aged" ambience that transforms a meal into an experience. In a world where the genuine essence of Japanese cuisine can sometimes be lost amidst fusion and innovation, Sushi Anza stands as a beacon of tradition and quality. Overall, my first visit here was a nostalgic journey through the very essence of Japanese tradition, guided by the hands of those who know and respect it the most. I cannot recommend Sushi Anza enough and look forward to many more visits. I hope to regain the same authentic warmth, excellence, and quality that hallmarks the culinary gems of Torrance.“
