“Our son lives in Chicago and we asked his girlfriend to choose a nice place for us to fly in and take them out to dinner to celebrate his birthday… Obélix did NOT disappoint! My husband is French and used to work in the food industry so to say our standards are high is an understatement. You will come out of an experience here a few pennies poorer yet you will chalk this up to a rich gastronomical experience bar none. The service is impeccable (timing and engagement) and food, sublime. I was so looking forward to sharing angel food cake with my son as we did while he was growing up but we simply indulged all evening and had no room but for espressos. We enjoyed a bottle of Crémant to start and followed with a bottle of Beaujolais Fleury which was incredible once it opened…. The Dorade was outstanding and my family enjoyed the pâté en croute, soupe à l’onglon gratinée , les escargots bourguignon, macarons avec foie gras; and absolutely adored their aged steaks… the experience was outstanding and was well worth the flight to make a memorable evening with our beloved son. Try to save room for dessert as I hear it’s outstanding !!“

“The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“

“Last night, my girlfriend and I celebrated her 30th birthday with an unforgettable dinner at Roister. The evening was nothing short of magical, beginning with the Market Oysters that were delicately smoked and served with a tangy mignonette sauce. The shishito peppers, paired with a savory topping, were a burst of flavor that set the stage for the rest of the meal. Each dish was a masterpiece, not only in taste but also in presentation. The Pork Belly was succulent and perfectly seasoned, melting effortlessly at each bite. The Fried Chicken & Caviar was a surprising blend of down-home comfort and upscale indulgence, creating a delightful contrast. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Hearth Grilled Scallop. The cauliflower purée and fresh melon provided a sweet and creamy backdrop to the perfectly charred scallops. Following this was the Blue Crab with sofrito, which was a testament to the chef’s attention to detail and flavor balance. For dessert, the Butternut Squash Sorbet was a refreshing palate cleanser, and the Banana with pecan ice cream ended our meal on a decadently sweet note. Each plate was not only a treat for the palate but a feast for the eyes, served on beautifully curated dishware that enhanced the overall experience. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, allowing us to savor each moment of our celebration. Roister has truly set a high bar for culinary excellence and a memorable dining experience. Five stars are not enough to capture the essence of our evening. We will definitely be returning!“

Our 2 friends walked in about 5 minutes after us for a table, Host proceeds to not automatically deny them and asks the servers. Servers apparently had a problem with having another table until another server came worked it out. Finally, Wife and I walk back in to join our friends and overhear 2 servers discussing with the host about not seating anyone after 9pm (they close at midnight btw) Great to know that you wanting to close early is more important than actually doing your jobs and making easy money (we only got drinks and 2 apps) Pathetic, will not come back. Waited over 15 minutes for a server to come over, ordered drinks and was advised that they were doing last call in 15 minutes at 11:30 (posted closing time was 1am). Server asked us if we wanted to close or run a tab. We left it open, another woman brought it back closed out at 1130 and told us it was too late to order anything else. The 2nd server was also missing a front tooth and seemed to be high on drugs or something. Questionable at best“
