“Stopped by for a late lunch after being up in Lake Louise. Our server was fantastic, I cant remember his name (only that he was from Manchester.) I couldn't decide between the Chicken & Leek Pie or the Bangers & Mash. He recommended the Bangers & Mash and it did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious. Everyone else had burgers and potatoes skins (lame). Next time I'm in I'll have to try the Chicken & Leek Pie! Thanks for amazing food and service.“

“Great bar! It is the only one up tunnel mountain which is great for anyone who doesn’t want to venture all the way downtown and worry about getting a taxi back later when the buses have stopped. The live music and activities keep it fun, with karaoke being a big hit! It also has Free pool and darts if you want a more chilled night. Decent priced drinks so you don’t break the bank. The staff a fun and friendly too 🙂“

“Came in for some late food, but alas the kitchen had just closed a few minutes earlier at 10 PM.
So, had just a beer instead. Asked for some recommendations, and eventually picked the most basic of beers, which is always good measuring stick.

As for the beer. Cold. Like really. But actually for the type of beer, basically on point. Pint sized, which is really only useful if you can drink that fast enough, without your beer heating up too much. They should ask size if they offer multiple. No head though, virtually non-existent. My Belgian heart bled there. Price was on point.

The atmosphere, lively despite it being not too crowded. Some tables talking, some in the back playing darts. Music too loud though, or the speaker near the first table on the right is positioned very poorly.

The waitress was sublime though. Friendly, helpful, and multiple check-ins on how I was doing.“

“If you’re going to eat fish and chips in the middle of the Canadian Rockies, you might as well do it with a mountain view—and the Rose & Crown absolutely delivers on that front. Our table overlooked a postcard-worthy scene so perfect, I half-expected someone to yell “Cut! Back to your marks!”

Service was genuinely above average—warm, attentive, and the kind where you can tell they actually care whether you’re enjoying yourself. A rare and welcome trait in a busy tourist town.

Now, onto the star of the show: the Friday fish-and-chips special. The fries? Wonderfully crispy. The batter? Golden and beautifully crunchy. The fish inside the batter? Well… let’s just say it was playing a very successful game of hide-and-seek. I’ve seen more fish in a high school aquarium. Maybe the Friday discount applies to the cod itself.

Don’t get me wrong—it tasted good! But compared to the Rose & Crown in London or even the one in Disney World, where the fish is substantial enough to have dreams and ambitions, this was more “batter with personality.”

Still, between the caring service, the unbeatable view, and the fact that crispy anything tastes better at altitude, it’s absolutely worth a visit. Next time, I’ll just skip the Friday special and pay full price… hopefully for full fish.

The food was fabulous, we so enjoyed our fondue too, thank you for the birthday candle, and the inventive way of putting that together with the fondue! Thanks for helping us with the parking… You just made it a really special and great time in Banff!
