The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Banff Downtown

We always enjoy a dinner at the Keg when we visit Banff. Never leave disappointed! The service is fantastic and the Keg always serves a great steak!

Our server with long dark hair and bangs and glasses was fabulous. Very accommodating in helping us choose our food. Thank you.

Our server went above and beyond! He accommodated several special requests without hesitation. And the food was perfect. Great experience.

Fantastic meal at the Keg last night. 6 of us had steaks cooked to perfection and also enjoyed Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail starters. Our waiter, Patrick, was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Worth going just for the bread! Highly recommend.

The Keg in Banff should offer a memorable experience, especially when the bill amounts to over $250. Regrettably, the individual who greeted us at the door was rather grumpy, and we did not feel welcomed. The waitress initially provided satisfactory service but subsequently spent more time conversing with the two ladies seated beside us. She mentioned she would bring bread, which never arrived, and failed to return to inquire if we desired additional wine (we did). At the conclusion of the meal, she placed the bill over the ledge instead of presenting it directly at the table. Regrettably, after 17 years of tradition, it is time to seek another steakhouse. P.S. The steak and lobster were exceptional, cooked to perfection.

The staff made the overall experience exceptional. Can always count on the food to be piping hot and savoury! One of my favourite steak houses due to quality of food and consistency of service.

Probably the worst table I've ever been sat at with reservation. Looked out the window at the dumpster.

Let me start by saying our server Emily was absolutely amazing! But my girlfriend and I came in for Valentine’s day dinner and had a reservation for 5PM and they were not super busy at all. I ordered my steak medium rare my girlfriend ordered hers medium well, they rushed our food and both steaks came out rare and had to be sent back. When the food came back it was cooked alright but charred and burnt on the outside and overall not great. We usually love this location and it’s always been our favourite dinner spot in Banff but this was an unpleasant experience.

EDIT: Matt the General Manager has reached out to me and resolved the issue. I look forward to trying this location again next time we’re in Banff.

First time visiting the KEG. I Had the prime rib and it was average. It was not warm enough and bit tasteless for me. The service was great, we had a lovely waitress.

As always, great food, great steaks great service. Will adapt the menu and servings to your needs and there are glutenfree options availble - although gluten free bun with the burger would be nice!

Is the host at the door racist?
I’m Korean, and she led us to a table in the empty upstairs corner, even though there were plenty of open tables on the first floor.
To make matters worse, there was a piece of vinyl in the lobster bisque.
I’ve visited several branches of The Keg and have loved it, but this location was the WORST. However, the server of my table was kind. If not for his kindness, this dinner would have completely ruined my trip.

The Keg is one of our favorite places but this one leaves something to be desired. The food was good but not exceptional, unlike other locations we have visited. The French Onion Soup was like brown water, with little to no flavour. The mashed potatoes, normally a favorite of ours, were very thick and didn’t meet the usual standard. The service was ok. Our waitress was friendly but not overly attentive. The tables are all extremely close together, so you can't help but hear every conversation except your own. For being in such a busy location like Banff, I think this location could do better. 3.5 out of 5.
