I had an excellent meal at Abu Nawras restaurant on 97th Street + 129th Street. I'm not sure if it's Lebanese, Syrian, or something else, but everything was delicious, especially the kippe (spelled a different way on this menu)--a type of crispy meatball (crisp on the outside because it's made partly with bulgar). I would happily go back.
I have been here a couple times. The food is ok at best and no presentation. I wanted to order chicken kabsa but was told they only had chicken shwarma to go on the rice and tried to tell me it was good.Im not Middle Eastern but I'm not an idiot and they thought I didn't know that I am more than familiar with this dish as having learned to make it myself from my ex mother in law while in Jordan.I was like no shwarma is not the same ,not at all!! This restaurant is an oriental gem. They provide great food with a smile. The staff is just wonderful.
