How do I start.....in a nutshell one of the worst dinning experiences my wife and I have had in almost 50 years...yes you had right 50 years of dining out in all kinds and levels of venues. First the online reservation system failed drastically, we had made the reservation 3 weeks in advance and no acknowledgement until a phone to the restaurant. When we arrived no table reserved, after about 5 minutes we were seated right in front of the door, cold. We then waited for almost 15 minutes to get the server, another 10 minutes for a beverage order...which took another 10 or so minutes. The server did not know her menu and couldn't answer even a basic question. For a special event the presentation and quality of the food did not match..the salad was a basic chopped lettuce, what seemed to be dressing out of a bottle and the fork stuck in the bowl. The main took over an hour to be served and in fairness was well prepared and tasted fine. The dessert was also fine. The owner was nowhere to be seen and truly needs to step up, apologize to all of the guests for a truly screwed up event...all told, not enough food prepared or in stock...soup ran out, not enough staff, not trained, overwhelmed and unprepared. Most aggressious, no senior staff present to assist or respond and as a result, far too many guests left in disgust or anger after waiting interminable time without beverages, service or food.
In short stay away. My wife and I will NEVER come here again! What was once a hidden dining gem in Edmonton has been destroyed...what a shame.

We frequented this place prior to new ownership. Came for Valentine’s Day and it was horrid. Fingerprints on the dishware. Wrong drinks. Extremely slow service. I felt bad for our server who was clearly extremely overwhelmed by the huge number of tables that were seated (only two servers working). Could see frantic wait staff and managers fighting in the back - it was pandemonium. It’s sad to see what this place has become.

We left before we even ordered. Whole place had a sewage smell, chair was broken and they had none of the beer selection the show on the menu on tap. Don’t waste your time.

Great place for lunch. Portions are dinner-sized, the service was excellent, as was the food!

This place used to be such a hidden gem. Unfortunately the previous owners sold it and it has completely gone downhill since. The other review about stench is accurate. I sat up at the bar and could barely handle the stench. I ordered a glass of wine (which this place used to be known for) and it was rancid. When I gave it back to the server, he lied and said he just just just opened the bottle. He gave me a new glass of wine but didn’t even ask me what kind I wanted and just poured me another glass from some other brand/bottle (no clue what it was). I would not recommend going to this place. I won’t be back.

Truly an awful experience. We dined last week and it was exceptionally bad. The restaurant itself deeply smells of sewage, there is something very wrong with their bathrooms. Further, many chairs are broken, mismatched and torn- absolutely not fine dining. Secondly, service was horrid- wrong bottles of wine, very poor communication, horrible table manners. Food was equally as bad. Avoid at all costs. Do not be fooled by prior reviews- the owners sold earlier this year and the new owners are an embarrassment...

Amazing food and great service. The fish entree was very delicious and the Korean chicken was so good and very tasty. A definitely a great place for lunch or dinner. After the meal, don’t forget for a great dessert. Overall the food is extraordinary and definitely very unique. Make a point to visit this place, located in south side.

This is my neighborhood spot. Great drink menu, food and service. Love the cute patio during the summer
** I wanted to update my review from a few years ago*** we used to be a regular at this place under the old ownership. Rob was was awesome! Love the restaurant before
Under the new ownership we have been very disappointed at every single time we've been here. From the lack of local beers, to quality of the menu, and quality of the serving staff and kitchen. We have stopped coming here which is too bad because we live in the neighborhood

The current rating of this restaurant needs to be updated to accurately reflect the reviews which have been posted since new owners took over. In reviewing the postings since new ownership, it is clear that there are many ongoing issues which need to be addressed. My personal experience would rate this restaurant in the minus range for many of the reasons already noted by previous diners.
Quiet restaurant. I wanted to try for the first time as Jacks Grill was so good and fine dining. The Glass Monkey wasn't my cup of tea but it has potential.
Brunch at The Glass Monkey in Edmonton was fantastic! Got the smoked salmon Eggs Benny—perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and crispy hashbrowns. My friend raved about the Nutella pancakes with fresh berries. Cozy vibe, super friendly staff, and food came out fast. A bit pricey at ~$35 each, but totally worth it. Can’t wait to try dinner here!!!
