We were a group of 5 last night and thoroughly enjoyed the food and excellent service. The atmosphere gets a 2 unfortunately due to the state of the women’s washroom. It hadn’t been cleaned, bins overflowing and there was a stench that made one gag. Not good.

Posting this review as their hygiene standards are extremely low . The women’s bathroom smelt horrible and the restaurant needed a good cleaning . I ended up not touching my meal. (no idea how clean the kitchen was ).
Service was ok . They did not seem too concerned about the smells and just said “ owner is aware “
If I could give this place a zero star I would. The cleanliness is most definitely not up to code. If you need to use the ladies room i recommend going in with a gas mask or just hold it. Customer service is also another thing lacking especially with the male servers.
This restaurant has the potential to be great but, the new ownership is ruining the overall vibe. Very unprofessional and questionable ethics.
I had the Grilled Caesar Salad with added chicken for $26 and it was absolutely delicious! It was a whole romaine heart which was grilled, giving it a smoky flavour and blackening the tips of the leaves. It was served with bacon bits which were also cooked to crisp perfection and parmesan cheese and of course the added chicken. Everything was so tasty that I barely used the house-made dressing which I'd requested on the side.
I gave a few bites away to my dinner partner and each of us ate everything on our plates.
The staff was courteous and attentive, answering our questions and addressing any concerns or dietary restrictions.
We went early in the evening on a holiday, so there wasn't anyone watching hockey and we were able to enjoy conversation and atmosphere, although I could see that one section was set up for people to enjoy a sports bar scenario later. The signature entrées were about $34 each if memory serves me correctly. We will have to go again to try other selections.
Mother's Day Madness - we had a reservation made 2 weeks ago thru an email for 2 (thru a service like Open Table). Great all set! When we arrived on the Sunday I could see a line up out the door. My mom is 85 so a nice lady in line told us to go inside and wait by the bar, since the wait would be longer than anticipated. My mom and I waited over 20 minutes by the bar, at no time did the line move or did I see a host give assistance to those in line. I looked around the restaurant, messy tables, upset customers, servers running around with no real purpose. So we left, I bought some breakfast items at Sunterra and we made the best of the day.
My understanding now is that the restaurant was sold to new ownership. I have always enjoyed this place, it was unique in its service and offerings.
My advice if this type of situation arises let your valuable clients know thru the hospitality platform that there reservation will not be honored so that alternative plans can be made, as this was a total waste of over 3 hours that day.
Today was sadly one of the worst experiences my family has ever had in a restaurant, and it happened on Mother’s Day due to the extreme selfishness of the manager or owner- we never got clear clarification.
When we arrived early for our 10:45 reservation, we were told that the restaurant had overbooked and they gave away our table. The dining area was crowded and loud, so when the hostess began pulling tables together on the patio, it was a welcomed shift in the reservation. However, the patio hadn’t been cleaned since it was closed, most likely in the fall, as there was beer kegs all over, it was very dusty and clearly had not been tended to for months. Our table was not cleaned by the hostess or our server. It took 30 minutes to get our teas and coffees and another hour to get our bottle of Prosecco. There was no cutlery on the table so we asked for some spoons to stir our cream and sugar into our hot beverages. Spoons never came… only forks and knives. Our server rarely checked on us- didn’t offer to refill our waters and lots of people sitting at tables beside us had to actually go inside and serve themselves coffee.
We asked about the ETA of our food after an hour and were told that it would be coming soon and our patience was appreciated.
After waiting 2 hours, we again asked for the ETA of our food and were told it would be another 20 mins before it would get started. We asked to speak to the manager/ owner 3 times. Never once did they come out to speak with us.
The server finally came out and said that she put a rush order on our food, and it would be out in 15-20 mins, rather than just getting started in 20 mins.
We asked what the issue was and were told that the reservations were full by Wednesday morning and had been closed, but the manager opened the reservations on Wednesday evening and overbooked the restaurant by 140 guests! She said they were understaffed, which was the first time in 2 hours this was mentioned to us.
This complete lack of transparency at the onset of our time at this restaurant was disrespectful and unacceptable, to say the least.
The massive mistake with overbooking reservations, extreme selfishness and cowardly nature of the manager needs to be addressed by the owners as this is the worst way to run a business.
We never got our food and asked to leave. None of our drinks were compted and the server still expected to receive a 20% tip, even though she did not communicate any of the necessary information to us and her service was subpar at best.
We will never go to this restaurant again and will tell others to stay away from this poorly run venue.
Drove in from Beaumont to have Mother’s lunch with reservations at 12:30. We were told that they were 15 behind so we waited outside for over an hour and then left. Worst service ever messed up our Mother’s Day what a joke.
We waited an hour and a half for our food...
When some of the food did come, only half of our group was served and they had finished long before the rest of the food came out. $4 for a drip coffee and no refills were offered. Saw many other groups who had been waiting simply get up and leave and yet there was still a large line of people waiting to be seated at tables.
Limited apologies were given and nothing was compensated despite the very large waiting time.
Far from the Mother's Day dinning experience we had hoped for. A brunch that turned into a lunch.
I was terribly disappointed for Mother’s Day at this restaurant. We had a reservation at 11:30am and there was a lineup through the door with no servers or hostess staff to seat people. It took 20 mins to get through the line and then seated. Once sat, it took 30 mins to get water and coffee. Our food order was not ready after 1.5 hr wait. We asked for an update and were told only 2 out of the 5 meals we ordered (sausage and eggs with waffles) were ready. The server was pleasant but clearly overwhelmed as tables were leaving as they too, had been waiting for over an hour. In some cases over 2.
No sign of management to address or apologize for the situation. We had to pivot and go to another restaurant. Moxies got us in within 10 min with water and coffee.
I’ve been to the Glass Monkey many times with my family, it has always been a favourite. I will never go back to this restaurant again based on the fact that management didn’t step in. No apologies for the inconvenience or explanation for the wait. The previous owner was phenomenal. Her being gone is severely hurting their business. Only go to this restaurant if you’ve eaten beforehand as the disorganization will leave you hungry. Upon leaving I was charged 50 dollars for 3 coffees and 2 mimosas. No offer to comp anything. Terribly disappointing which is bothersome. As again, it used to be a great, elevated, community restaurant . Skip this restaurant, it is no longer worth it.

Warning: Do NOT risk booking here for a special occasion. Had a reservation. Clearly major issues going on, because the place was packed with people without food, and a line out the door of other people with bookings. Things happen, but staff did nothing to be kind, or provide any service whatsoever. No saying hi, no bringing water or cutlery, no explanations or apologies. People started leaving, and those who stayed had no food for 90 minutes. AVOID!
We wanted to give The Glass Monkey a try as we live in the neighbourhood. Service was friendly and the drinks were tasty. However, the menu and prices didn't really match our experience. The menu started with fresh new dishes and cocktails, then more beverages and cocktails, then featured dishes, followed by regular dishes with lots of repetition and overlap. My dish did not come as described on the menu (without prawns to go with the scallops) and I could understand how that could happen with the somewhat eclectic range of menu they were working with. The order was rectified but our meals were overall just okay, especially for the price paid. Would go again for cocktails and maybe appies but we weren't too inspired by our visit. Hoping for a revamp as it would definitely be a good location for us.
Food was tasty and well presented. For a not-busy Saturday morning, it sure took the server a long time to check 2 tables to refill drinks, check in and present the bill. Both tables were frustrated by the end of the visits.
Great hidden place in Central Edmonton. We went here for breakfast/ brunch, and the menu has great options, reasonably prices. Our table of 4, we had 3 of the Eggs Benny options, and one person had the 3 cheese omlette. It's worth a try if you're looking for a not crowded breakfast place in Edmonton.
The food tasted fine.
The service is what influenced my rating.
Our server asked if we wanted a drink and we asked for a few minutes to decide, and they came back way later than we expected maybe around 20 min. We also waited a while to get our food orders in.
When we did receive our food, I asked about the pizza we had ordered if it was on its way and our server acted as if we didn’t order it at all. So we decided to cancel the pizza order as we already finished our entrees.
Despite there being maybe 2-3 other tables being served, multiple tables were yet to be cleared while we waited for service.
I don't believe I'll be back, sadly.
