“Last Saturday, my family and I went to Mr. Mikes in Stony Plain for an early Mother’s Day supper. What we expected to be a relaxing evening quickly became incredibly stressful when my father-in-law suddenly became very sick not long after we arrived. The staff at Mr. Mikes handled the situation with a level of care and compassion that honestly left a lasting impression on all of us. While my mother-in-law and myself were outside helping him and eventually getting him to the hospital, Manager Kelli stepped in immediately and made sure he was looked after the entire time. She brought water, cold cloths, sick bags, and most importantly treated him with genuine kindness and concern during a very difficult moment. Inside the restaurant, our server Grace was equally amazing. She stayed attentive to my wife and our toddler, helped keep our daughter occupied, checked in regularly, and made sure my wife knew what was happening outside. In the middle of a very emotional situation, her calm and caring attitude made a huge difference. What stood out most was how invested the entire team was in making sure our family was okay. After my mother-in-law left for the hospital with my father-in-law, the staff asked what they had wanted to order because Kelli had already decided she wanted to personally send meals to them at the hospital so they would at least have something to eat while waiting there. Once we were able to confirm their order, everything was taken care of right away. Our own meals were excellent, but the kindness didn’t end there. Before we left, we found out that Kelli had personally brought the meals to the hospital herself and checked in on my in-laws while she was there. As we were getting ready to leave, we thanked Kelli for everything she had done. She then asked who had paid the bill, and when I told her I had, she handed me an envelope with the money for my in-laws’ meals because she had wanted to cover the cost herself. I can honestly say I’ve never experienced hospitality like this before. The staff at Mr. Mikes showed our family such genuine empathy and generosity during one of the most overwhelming nights we’ve had in a long time. Because of this experience, Mr. Mikes in Stony Plain will absolutely be our go-to spot anytime we’re craving a steak or burger. Huge thanks to Kelli, Grace, and the entire staff for going far beyond what anyone would ever expect. Your kindness meant more to our family than you probably realize.“
