Kachemak Shellfish Growers offers a memorable culinary experience with incredibly fresh oysters and delicious food. Although the bar area is small, the restaurant's wonderful food and great views from the bar seats make up for it. The expanded kitchen hours beyond 8 pm allow guests to enjoy the must-try meal, which includes some of the best oysters in Alaska, well worth the price. The seafood dishes, such as steamers, raw oysters, and the pan roast with scallops and shrimp, are cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The oysters and steamers are tender and very flavorful, complemented by garlic white wine sauce and creole sauce that enhance the taste. Servers are friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even better. The restaurant creates a lively atmosphere, with seafood prepared in front of guests and filling the air with tantalizing aromas. Many find this spot to have the best seafood on the Homer AK Spit, possibly in all of Homer. The restaurant's expanded size and simple menu, with dishes like shrimp creole and shrimp and grits for about $30, along with fresh raw oysters for about $20, have been highly praised. The reasonably priced beer and wine add to the overall enjoyment. Despite some challenges with wheelchair accessibility due to upstairs bathrooms without an elevator, visitors consistently enjoy excellent seafood and great views at this location. Overall, it’s a place where guests can indulge in top-quality seafood in a friendly, lively setting.
