“Chris and the Fam at The Kannery, wow!!! Man I haven’t been impressed by many establishments in our 4 years here but yall exceeded our expectations. Great atmosphere, clean, efficient and the staff was very attentive. My wife had the ribeye and it was on the money. Not over salted or charred so the flavor of the steak came through and the butter was the perfect combo. I had the pastrami beef rib, I didn’t expect too much as I’m a really harsh beef critic. Dayumn, was it good. Top 3 beef ribs I’ve ever had and I’m from the heart of Texas where beef is a religion. Well done sir to you and your staff, we’ll be back. 5 star all star“

“Great atmosphere and outstanding food!“

“When my wife and I came into town for a birthday weekend, we arrived early and were scrolling through what was available when we came across Don Jose’s and decided to roll the dice. We've tried every “Mexican” restaurant in Anchorage and the valley and been disappointed every time. We had given up hope that there was anything remotely authentic or as delicious as the Mexican food we both grew up on in Texas. Don Jose's absolutely blew our minds. The fried avocado appetizer was beautifully done, delicious, and a large enough portion to be an entree. I had the enchilada trio with ground beef/birria beef/chicken with one of each sauce and my wife had the cheese enchilada with beef tamale. Every single aspect of both dishes was impeccable. The tenderness of the meats showed top notch attention to detail, care for, and respect of the ingredients which delivered bursting flavor in every bite. The ground beef enchilada with verde sauce was the best I've ever had, and the meal as a whole was the best Mexican food I've ever had outside of south central Texas. It's a six hour drive for us to get here but we will absolutely plan our next trip to Homer around visiting Don Jose's again. I can not possibly recommend it more highly to anyone looking for food so good you won't believe it was made in Alaska.“
