The Meandering Goat Reviews
Getting there is part of the appeal, and the setting is memorable. I was a little underwhelmed by the food itself. The flavors felt somewhat muted, and the presentation didn’t quite match the ambition of the concept. It seems like they’re aiming for something distinctive, but for me the execution didn’t fully come together.

We didn’t see a goat image or much decor so we had a little fun reimagining it with AI. It was great and clean with wonderful staff and amazing food!
We had a fun time coming here for our 20th wedding anniversary. The water taxi set the tone for the evening and the restaurant itself was lovely with a beautiful view. The food was delicious with fresh local flavors. We had the scallops, which were wonderful. The portions are relatively small, but the experience was lovely. Would recommend for a special occasion!

The Meandering Goat offers a truly memorable dining experience with stunning views, excellent food, and a unique setting. Guests arrive by boat, crossing a sparkling bay and hiking through lush forest before reaching the restaurant, with breathtaking ocean vistas at every turn. The atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful, making the entire visit feel special.
The menu features fresh, local flavors and a variety of dishes that impress. Highlights include the wild game bolognese, perfectly seared ribeye with mashed potatoes, tender mussels with Thai coconut cream sauce, and a crisp berry hazelnut salad. Appetizers like pesto and goat cheese flatbread and Halibut cheeks are highly recommended, with the latter praised for its crunchy coconut crust and flavorful horseradish fruit sauce. The steak is juicy and generous in size, and vegetables are well-prepared, though some guests noted underdone greens. The restaurant also offers flexible vegetarian options and delicious drinks, such as the Blackberry smash.
Desserts like the carrot cake are a standout, considered the best by some guests, with praise for the pastry chef’s skill. Portions are hearty, often providing leftovers for the next day. The friendly and responsive staff, along with excellent service, enhance the experience. Overall, The Meandering Goat combines great food, breathtaking scenery, and a peaceful boat ride, making it one of the top dining spots in Homer. Visitors look forward to returning to enjoy its magic again.
