As a 50 year resident of Juneau, I am impressed with the current atmosphere, entertainment and overall vibe at the Alaskan. I my opinion it’s the best it’s ever been.
The variety of entertainment is awesome from Salsa dancing, karaoke, drag show and live music!
We were there for only a short time, but loved it!!!

The hotel has great character, with a rich and interesting history, and some even say it is haunted. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, featuring options for shared or private bathrooms. Some rooms face the street and bar, where a bit of noise is present but adds to the lively atmosphere of the hotel. The bar, situated on the second floor with a balcony, offers a vibrant space for visitors to enjoy local spirits, beers on tap, and even play chess. The bartender is especially friendly, providing excellent recommendations. The venue boasts a full bar and a unique "crab fart" drink, which many find interesting and tasty. While there is no elevator and the hallways may carry the scent of history, the location is perfect for walking to local attractions, shops, and restaurants. Whether visiting or staying, the Alaskan Hotel & Bar offers a memorable experience filled with history, good drinks, and a lively, welcoming vibe.
