“The food is great, bar food so what you pay is what you get but the selection is quite fun! They usually have a decent selection of beer, and beer on tap. Staff is efficient and kind! In the winter this is one of the few local food joints, with regular hours. Kid friendly!“

“We were looking for a spot for dinner when we were in Talkeetna as part of a Celebrity pre-cruise tour and our Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge Driver recommended Kahiltna Bistro. Oddly, we had not even noticed this place as an option in our online search for restaurants but the driver said they had the best chef in town. It was just right across the street from the bus and shuttle drop off lot and, when we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff and got a table right away. While other spots in town seemed to offer more of a pub food - touristy menu (which we heard is good), the menu here was - for us - a step above. What decor-wise looked pretty standard, the starters showed imaginative use of local ingredients and the salads/mains were amazing. The halibut we had was as good or better that the fanciest places we've been, the dessert offerings were awesome (we had the homemade rhubarb blueberry cobbler al a mode) and the beer/wine/cocktail offerings were solid. The service we had was the most attentive and friendly that we have experienced so far in Alaska - which is saying something since we've been pretty pleased so far with the service we've had since we've been in the 49th State. What surprised us most was that it wasn't very crowded. Our guess is that it's a location thing since most people seem to miss that Kahiltna Bistro is even there since when they get to town, most people go right into town instead of left when they get off the busses/shuttles. Our advice is if you get to Talkeetna, be like a salmon this time of year and instead of going down stream with everybody else for a burger or something, go upstream (i.e., left) - it's where the good stuff is!“

“Come hungry and enjoy the view! The Foraker features a selection three course dinners at $82 (June 2026). The upscale menu items may not fit everyone's tastes. The bisque and brussel sprout salad didn't hit the spot. Steak and salmon were cooked to perfection. Dessert was delicious!“
