“10/10 The Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe is always such a welcoming space, friendly atmosphere, smiles all around, and very kind staff! The café is always clean, fresh and changing ( for the better). They always offer amazing treats, sandwiches, breakfast, coffee, unique drinks and pizza!! Everytime I come in there is new art on the walls, and lovely locals and travelers all around. I am a local so I am a little biased but I have been OBSESSED with this café since I moved here. The atmosphere allows me to stay productive when working on business things. There's a little play "space" for littles too.“
“Fun environment, great pizza-- personal size, and a great selection of beer for every drinker. They always have a sour or two or mixed cocktail. The Denali spirits are one of the few reasons I visit. Huge selection from the gift shop as well : T-shirts, hoodies, hats, stickers, cups, tumblers, coasters, etc. The staff is amazing as well and fast. I remember last spring we went in and they ran short of one drumstick and he offered to buy my boyfriend and I a whole other round ! Great people and great place, and also across the street from the bike path.. so manageable for visitors as well!“

“We were walking down the road and happened upon the bistro, it looked quiet and sits kind of on its own, but WOW!! It has been the absolute best meal of our trip so far. The service was wonderful, and the flavors of the food were just spectacular. We loved the rainbow chili nachos, the rice bowl (great veggies and shrimp), the fish tacos and the seafood mac. And the desserts were as indulgent as our server said they’d be. What a gem!!“

“Agree with others that are puzzled by the low reviews. Maybe there was a recent menu/staff change that improved things.
Anyway, very good food. HUGE portions. It's expensive because they kind of have to trapped there at the lodge. No real choices nearby to go to. So, they got ya. But, the plates are enormous. Most people could easily split an entre.
Service was very friendly. Seemed like maybe they were training new staff (seasonal, I'm sure, and we were there early May 2026), so things were a little slow. But, the food was delicious, lots of choices, and drink options were also numerous.
If you get seated near the windows, you have a breathtaking view of Mt. McKinley, assuming the clouds allow you to see it.“
