Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe Reviews
I stopped by the Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe for the first time yesterday and picked out the sparkling rhubarb ade and the “trust my, I’m vegan” sandwich. I liked how bubbly the drink was and the sandwich was so good with all the veggies and hummus. I also really liked how colorful it was.
We can to Talkeetna on a spur of the moment trip from Anchorage to try and see the northern lights. Had breakfast here the next morning and it was delicious, possibly the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had with homemade ingredients! 10/10 would recommend and hope to come back again sometime! We bought several goodies to take with us on the rest of our trip and everything was wonderful!
We looked forward to visiting this bakery because of a few good reviews. I was very disappointed today. We waited in line for 40 minutes to just purchase a couple of pastries from the case. The employees seemed very scattered and unorganized. The food was ok but not good enough to return. The cardamom rolls had no cardamom flavor and the cranberry cookies were overly sweet which did not enhance the flavor at all. Sadly, I would not recommend this bakery.

The Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe, located just off the main road in Talkeetna, provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere for all visitors. The menu features notable items like unique, harder-crust bagels, including the Sunday classic with smoked salmon, along with delicious breakfast options such as the breakfast burrito and mini quiche. The bakery items, including the black brownies, chocolate babka, and almond apricot rugelach, are a must-try and can compete with any great bakery. The friendly staff and open seating contribute to a low-key environment, where customers can help themselves and relax.
Visitors can enjoy the sparkling rhubarb ade, the "trust me, I'm vegan" sandwich filled with veggies and hummus, or the veg version of Talkeetna toast. The cafe also offers gluten-free flatbread for sandwiches, tasty baked goods, soup, and hot chocolate. Many ingredients are organic, local, and homemade, enhancing the overall experience. The location is great, near scenic trails, making it a super cute hometown coffee shop and bakery. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for the popular breakfast burritos, as they tend to sell out quickly. The Alaska Chai is also a recommended must-try.
