Shirley's Southalley Foodtrailer

This is regarding morning donuts, not cinnamon rolls or afternoon ice cream.

Knowing your donut:

Not that it is a wonderful skill to be proud of- I think most of us from North America have had fresh donuts, and we know when they are from the day old section or if they’re just made today. Well, using my vast donut experience, starting with getting them every Saturday as a paper boy about 50 years ago, having them brought into our place of work- we know!!.

Went in for the fresh donuts, and turns out that they get them from Safeway somewhere else and ship them in. When asked, the service team replied that they promised fresh donuts, not homemade donuts.

Got three of them, all of them were tough and at least a day old.

I think the lessons here are that the advertisement of fresh donuts could very well be true, yet it wasn’t in our case and the other lesson is check reviews and then you might try one donut before you buy anymore.

Shirley was soooooo nice. All we got was a donut for my toddler. . Just your typical donut taste wise but a pretty presentation! Thanks Shirley!

We stopped here on our last day and got the seafood burrito and my friend was made his own vegan burger of grilled veggies on a bun. Both out lunches were lip smacking delicious! Plus and order of hand cut fries fresh from the fryer. Shirley is so kind!

We had the breakfast sandwich, English muffin, eggs, cheese, and 1 with bacon, 1 with sausage. It was a huge and delicious sandwich. The coffee was good and Shirley was very friendly and accommodating. It is a trailer so the only place to sit was a picnic table under a tarp type of cover. Don't let that stop you from visiting though. The food was really good.

Hidden off Main Street behind their ice cream shop. The food here is fantastic and huge! We ate last night at Denali Brewery and the burgers at Shirley’s blow them away. They are large juicier and seasoned. You have a huge variety of toppings.i had the breakfast burrito and our son had the Reindeer sausage burrito. Both absolutely fantastic. If you are visiting you will not go wrong with this food truck! Staff is wonderful! Very friendly and accommodating!

The food was good. Large portions. Server was a bit overwhelmed. Had quite a line up. Only problem in the tiny town is no place to park unless you pay for it maybe a half a mile and walk. Pulling a trailer was hard. Google had us going down an alley. It’s a long way off the highway. If you can find a place to drop off your car and happen to have bicycles then you’ll have a blast checking out the various shops. We made too big a foot print pulling a trailer and wrong time of day to try to camp. I don’t regret stopping but the menu is limited. No longer have breakfast sandwich what I really wanted.

Had breakfast burrito, Very good portions and delicious burrito , sausage and biscuits. A little pricey but better than any other touristy place around. A little slow as Shirley is one woman show, but we’ll worth the wait.

My husband & I had the most amazing breakfast sandwiches here. They were absolutely huge. Freshly made on the spot by the fabulous Shirley & her daughter. We were looking for a good breakfast & could smell something delicious so we literally followed our nose until we stumbled across the food van. We were with a group of 10 travellers & quickly messaged them that we had discovered a hidden gem. Do yourself a favour and make sure you eat here. You will not be disappointed!!

The best burger I've ever had - and I've had hundreds of them over 74 years... A local air travel merchant told us "this is the REAL Shirely's burger" and we thank them for their advice. There were too many french fries to finish. Can't wait to go back again...
