Urban Standard It is a shame that it took me hearing about this place closing down for me to come out and try the food. I have been here before for a book signing, but I have never tried the food. Until the last day they were open. . . I'm generally not a coffee or coffee shop person, but the food here was phenomenal. Urban Standard is a cute coffee shop in downtown Birmingham. I've visited here twice, and both times I found the coffee good and the food totally delicious! Last time I visited (right before the Pandemic) I particularly enjoyed the Grits and the Biscuits; the latter were house-made :-) The food here is good enough that I'm looking forward to visiting again soon. Seriously the best maple donut ever! Moist, flavorful. And the coffee was awesome too. And the grits were good and I'm not a grit fan at all. Some people commented on it being a hipster coffee shop-after being in Seattle and Portland and other hipster California areas-I'd say this place is a light version and shouldn't deter anyone from going to eat those donuts and the great coffee.
