Had lunch today with my friend Sara at Urban Ministry, Inc , a community kitchen here in Birmingham. While I had no idea this place existed, Sara recommended that we dined here. (I wanted lasagna from Yo' Mama's Restaurant ) but I am so happy that we decided this place. We walked into a well lit room filled with the smiling faces of people from very different backgrounds. We just enjoyed a Mardi Gras meal of red beans and rice and a fresh green salad with balsamic dressing. It was delicious, and we got to meet the visionary head chef Lawanda Buckhannon. WE Cafe is feeding the West End community in so many healthy ways. Thank you!
