“Summer 2024 will be my third year frequenting the Social. It is one of only a few restaurants accessible by boat. Ideally, I'd love to see more slips for docking. Unfortunately, a tornado took out some trees in the area but, fortunately, made for more car parking. The weekends during prime boating season can get a little wild after dark but the restaurant is a fun family (and pet friendly) place until about 7 or 8PM. And who doesn't love live music, right? I appreciate the fact that students are able to get summer jobs there, but they also have enough "seasoned" workers to keep things rolling smoothly most of the time. I have a favorite bartender but they are all pretty friendly. I'm not much of a drinker but I haven't heard very many complaints regarding mixed drinks. On beautiful days, expect a large crowd. Expect somewhat longer than normal wait times on ordering and receiving your food. Expect some mix ups on orders. And sometimes, the food will only be subpar. But 9.5 times out of 10, the runners bring my food out with a smile. All things considered, I love hanging out/eating at the Social. Food faves: shrimp and grits (brunch only), catfish basket, grilled shrimp tacos, mahi tacos, and crispy fries with ranch dressing”

“The last time I ate here, I had a protein bowl, which is just a salad with double meat. I had it with chicken salad which was quite good. I had previously tried the chicken salad wrap which I did not particularly enjoy because the new flatbed is pretty tasteless as well as being the texture of crumbly cardboard. Their sub bread has an overly soft crust and needs to be toasted and it tastes too sweet for a good sub”

“Patronized this wonderful coffee shop twice with my husband while visiting his mother. We try to find local places on our travels. From the moment we parked, we knew this was a local gem! Day one we got the 1949 and the True Value. Day 2 we had the Nuts and Bolts and the Irish Delight(seasonal). Both days my husband has a the cheese and fruit claw. The coffee is fresh ground. Menu is small but that allows for a more unique array of flavors and adds to the experience. This place is a must go! Love the old cars, furniture, and history behind the building. Staff is amazing! Both ladies at the counter remembered us from 2 days prior. This place makes you want to stay for hours. Games and puzzles available to relax and enjoy your time.”

“Picked up dinner tonight - delicious as always. We love the hamburger steak! The onions, mushrooms and gravy only complimented the hamburger steak, fries were hot, salad was fresh, dressing was good and even the grilled bread was great. It's so easy to place an order online, and they're very quick. I definitely recommend Talisi Old Town Grille!”

“I loved my first experience at SpringHouse! The grouper was absolutely fantastic. I sat at the chef counter and enjoyed watching them. I will absolutely be a regular. However, note to moms, the ladies room does not have a changing table.”

The overhead lighting was poor, and the other long table in that room had the chairs turned upside down on the table as if they had just mopped or were not fully open. The stall in the ladies' restroom was tight.”

“We are there this evening! Driving by you wouldn’t even think it to be a restaurant if you don’t see the probably 40 year old portable Marquee sign out front. Definitely a place to stop if you are ever traveling through the area. Food is all homemade, I had a seafood platter and my wife had the whole catfish platter. Everything was good as it could get, I cleared my plate and my wife had to get a doggie bag, she could finish everything as is how it normally goes with her. It ran us around $55 tip included. The owner not sure if his name is Truman or not but said he had owned the place for ten years. He came out to check on us several times as well as the cook. Very rural area this is located at. Paper plates and red solo cups are how you are served. I would give it a rating of 8 of 10. The only down side is they only open in the evening three days a week. But if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

“The atmosphere is amazing and I haven’t had anything on the menu that I didn’t like. The smash burger comes highly recommended by me. I know a lot of the younger staff personally and I appreciate the fact that they are out working and learning the value of a dollar. Today though, I overheard a member of management yelling at the kitchen staff for a little mix up on the order placed by someone a few customers in front of me. I have worked for 3 years at a very busy and very popular Lake Martin restaurant and I have never spoken to anyone or heard a member of management speak to anyone like this lady was speaking to her staff today. Mistakes happen but it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be fixed easily. Yelling at the staff is unacceptable and not the way to keep good staff, which is hard to come by these days. HR: Listen closely to the staff’s complaints because they are legit and need to be addressed.”

“We had General Tso's chicken and Cashew Chicken and enjoyed both dishes. Both dishes were a little on the "dry" side but because they are now a Take-Out only restaurant, maybe the 20 minute drive home contributed to that issue. Overall a good experience, the order was ready when I arrived, it was correct, portions were large and was not over priced.”

“Food was good is always. I love the shrimp fried rice. Unfortunately it takes so long to get your food. I talked to a gentleman who had ordered online and he said it took them 40 minutes to prepare his meal while he waited. That's the only bad thing about this place.”

“Thanks for all of the support but I have something to address for all of you negative key boards writers first of all this is a business that strives to do its best for the customer of Buck's Cafe we have realized that you can't please everyone in this business because you gonna have people that complain about everything,if you negative people didn't realize that covid changed everything or you just don't care but my job is to look out for me,my workers,and customer s safety so if you see paper or plastic utensils it's for safety reason don't get on here being negative when we strive to give you the best business if you don't like our service don't come in,I have to pay for everything in here if it's bottle water or paper cups don't come looking for nothing free,for the all you can eat Buffet it is what it is don't overload your plate and think your taking one to go you can but you got to pay,if theirs a problem address it to me or to one of my staff and we will do our best to accommodate you before you take it here or to facebook,we have silver utensils and real plates if you don't like what you are eating out of politely ask and will accommodate you to the best service also the buffet close at 130pm don't come in at 1 and think we suppose to load it back up fully for you,try some of these fast food places I bet you will not get the service that we give once again thanks for all the support”

Anyway there's a young man in there that didn't dilly dally about helping me 100% with everything to do with my car.
