“Scott Street Deli June 19, 2023 I was cruising Facebook this morning and saw a posting that Scott Street Deli would be open today. What a great idea for a Monday lunch. When Mrs. Bunny worked downtown on Dexter Avenue we’d make an occasional lunch trip to Scott Street Deli for some of their tasty sandwiches. She retired last July so we don’t have the need to travel to downtown Montgomery as much. This being a federal holiday for Juneteenth I guessed that there would be less overall lunch traffic, so we left sunny rainy Mitylene and drove to Scott Street for lunch. The rain got heavier as we parked and headed inside the Deli. It’s OK… we’ll dry out. I got in Line 1 and placed our order with the Sandwich Artist… a large Frencheletta for me, a regular Club for Mrs. Bunny. While sandwiches were being made I picked up Chips and Sodas for us and paid Kathy (the owner) for our meal. I secured a table and waited for Mrs. Bunny to arrive with our sandwiches. My Frencheletta was large and meaty and quite a handful to navigate. Mrs. Bunny enjoyed her Club. There are many sandwiches on the menu but somehow we always gravitate to the Frencheletta and Club. Creatures of habit we are. I promise I’ll try something new next visit. As they say, “so many sandwiches, so little time”. As we sat there in-house and to-go orders came and went. It was a busy place this afternoon. We thanked Kathy for a great meal and headed out before the rains got heavier. We had chicken schwarma dinners and the falafel platter. This place is the real deal. Very delicious authentic food- with the taste and smell we were taken back to the Middle East. “I love small businesses, and I love this place. The barista is the nicest woman on the planet. For that alone I love that place but also they have so much awesome indoor and outdoor space, a chess area, and you can also book an inclosed room for a meeting space. “I was very pleasantly surprised by my visit here! Came in from NY on business, and my client had recommended I come here for dinner. Absolutely wild decor, I truly enjoyed the atmosphere.

For my main course, I ordered the signature ribeye (the Epicure ribeye) which came with a side salad, a loaded baked potato, and I got the grilled asparagus.

The salad was honestly phenomenal, I got it with the balsamic; whatever spices they use, I kept getting a hint of cinnamon or somethint, I really enjoyed the flavor!

The steak was really tasty, but also the reason I docked a star. This was supposedly a 40+ day dry aged ribeye, but having had dry aged ribeyes at very fine dining in other states this really lacked that funky flavor that defines the dry age. I still enjoyed it enough to finish all the steak, but I feel like I would've enjoyed the filet more, as the ribeye was also a little on the tough side as well.

The accompaniments were really tasty and cooked perfectly. I absolutely loved the loaded baked potato and the asparagus were perfect.

Also much thanks to my waitress Kaitlyn, she was a wonderful host who's small talk made me feel welcome and comfortable.

Overall a high 8/10 for me, I will definitely come back if im in the area again!”

“Vintage Cafe is the latest concept by the Vintage Hospitality Group. It is a coffee shop and daytime eatery featuring Stumptown Coffee Roasters coffee and Steven Smith Teamaker teas. In addition to coffee, we ordered the Martha’s Melt, Avocado Toast, and Multi Berry Smoothie. We enjoyed our food and beverage as much as we enjoyed the cafe’s ambiance and vibe. The owner/architect brilliantly found a way to honor the building’s bank roots within a sleek, modern design. I would visit again and again if I am ever in Montgomery. All of the sandwiches and featured breakfasts looked delicious.”
