New American Restaurants in Mobile, AL

“We've dined at the Dauphin's a few times before during previous visits to Mobile, AL and always enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit during Memorial Day weekend was a bit of a letdown. While the service was okay, the food left much to be desired. The main issue was the white fish of the day limon style, which was overcooked ~ extremely dry and hard with a side of overcooked, slimey asparagus. This was quite disappointing, especially since it's a dish I've enjoyed here in the past. However, the rest of the items we ordered were pretty good, maintaining the quality I've come to expect. I have to add that portions are above average size so if you're looking to try dessert, you may want to skip appetizers. One consistent highlight is the view from the 34th floor, which is simply amazing and adds a wonderful ambiance to the dining experience, especially during sunset. The cocktail with thyme is also great. Overall, this visit was not as impressive as previous ones, but I hope it was just an off night for the kitchen. We may give it another chance due to the beautiful setting and the generally good food we've had in the past. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I'd only be able to give it 3 stars.“

“In a town full of BBQ joints, this one stands out alone. Simple. Delicious. Affordable. This place keeps the menu and the food simple in the best possible way. They know what they do and they knock it out of the park.The owner is very friendly and while the "atmosphere" of the restaurant is far from fancy, I will be ordering food from here every time I'm in Mobile, I can promise you that.If you're coming here to sit down and eat, don't expect anything fancy. Folding tables and canned drinks. Here, it's all about the meat, and frankly, that's all that matters when it's this good.“

“This place is phenomenal! I am a chef and restaurant owner myself and I was blown away. The simplicity and freshness of the dishes is commendable. Treating fresh local ingredients so well and not over complicating the plate is a rare thing. Most chefs try to show you how "cheffy" they are. Get the Carolina Gold Rice with the Blue Crab. It's the perfect dish. Fresh Crab, the rice is perfection and would make southern food enthusiasts like Sean Brock ask for seconds. We'll done!“

“We had breakfast there while we were I town for a convention. Martha waited on us and I felt like I was at home. The food was great the menu was priced exceptionally well and we enjoyed our visit for breakfast each day. Thank you guys for the incredible service. The whole staff was simply amazing.“

“Love it although it's known as 1608 now. Great spot for fun and drinks. Sunday is the biggest night there. There's not another place in Mobile like it. Even tho it gets very packed and it's location it's the only place i feel the safest at. They don't put up with non that bs there. Come enjoy have fun“

“I really can’t say enough about this amazing establishment. I’ll start by saying that their service is amazing! Alesha was our server last night when my family went there to celebrate my sister’s birthday and she was so friendly and attentive. She did an excellent job taking care of our table! Everything we ordered was top gourmet quality. We shared a plate of fried crab claws which were delicious & perfectly seasoned. I had the spinach salad which was also wonderful especially the balsamic dressing. My entree was the fresh catch which was red fish over a bed of couscous mixed with roasted tomatoes and asparagus and my dessert was without question the BEST bread pudding I have ever had (and I’ve had a lot!) ; I think my favorite aspect of it was the chocolate bottom layer!! I would highly recommend this restaurant!! The atmosphere has a very classy vintage feel with wall paper that makes you feel as if you’ve stepped back into the roaring 20’s and a bar made of what looks to be rich dark mahogany wood with beautiful intricate carvings ! The dim lighting makes it perfect for a romantic dinner or any special occasion.“

“In my opinion, today’s food was awful. My grill quarters that I purchased as a take home meal was still pink on the inside as if it was rushed on the grill. They were out of a few items on menu. Lastly, what makes the taste of the chicken is the sauce that wasn’t even placed in the bag. I have had better but it was something about today. However, my son’s ribs in his opinion were burnt and just wasn’t good. I will return in hopes that the food is better.“

“This Wild Wing Station is a great option for quick, delicious food. I submit my order online and it’s ready within a few minutes. My favorite item on the menu is Spicy Garlic Chicken but today I got the Bulgogi and it did not disappoint. It’s as good as it looks!“
