Wintzell's Oyster House Reviews
I've never seen such a dysfunctional and lethargic staff. Well staffed, mostly empty and the staff walks around joking and laughing with each other while ignoring guests. There was one man working the floor who was on point. Everyone else clearly didn't care and they made sure you knew they didn't care.
25 minutes to be seated, 10 minutes to be greeted by a server, 10 minutes to get drinks. Once the food came out, it was stellar. I've been eating at Wintzell's locations...read full review
I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp which was totally dry and over cooked in addition the shrimp was covered in freezer burn. The restaurant was freezing cold and all the ceiling fans on-which they would do nothing about. Do not waste your money here.
I didn’t want to say anything in the restaurant and embarrass my party. It was horrible. The fish and fries came out cold. You were out of oysters which is why we drove to come here. We were never asked if the food came out ok. That’s because I’m positive she knew the answer. We left a decent tip. We come to Montgomery a lot. We will in all honesty not come back. Nothing was hot. Wintzell's Oyster House offers delicious seafood dishes, with the Low Country Boil and Tacos providing a flavorful kick. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The service is fast and friendly, with attentive servers who check on guests regularly and keep drinks filled. The menu features a variety of flavorful options, including oysters Bienville, scallops wrapped in bacon, and shrimp and grits, all served in large portions. The sides have unique flavors, like tender greens that are slightly spicy and come with minimal meat, and collards with a nice kick. The oyster plate is highly recommended, with some guests describing it as excellent and even making others do the happy dance. The decor is well done, with sayings on the walls that add to the fun atmosphere. Recently, some guests noted that the food hasn't been as good as before, and that the Jerk Chicken nachos were removed from the menu, which was disappointing. However, crab claws remain a favorite. Overall, Wintzell's is a great choice for fresh seafood, tasty sides, and friendly service, especially if visitors want to enjoy a lively vibe and good food. The patio also offers a fun way to experience downtown for those passing through.
