My wife called in to make a pickup order, and waited in town, only to be told when she went to pick it up that no one had actually put the order in - and this is NOT the first time this has happened. What a waste of time!
What really stinks is that this used to be my sister’s family’s favorite restaurant, but none of us will ever be back. During their last visit, my sister found shards of metal in the rice after she had already started feeding her baby. We are beyond disappointed.
Please be extremely careful if you eat here—there is a serious risk of physical injury. My sister actually cut her tongue on the metal, and her baby ended up with food poisoning afterward.
A huge warning...read full review

Hokkaido is a popular Japanese restaurant in Tuscaloosa, known for its fresh and flavorful food as well as its lively atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, from sushi rolls to hibachi-grilled meats. The chicken hibachi and the dragon roll are customer favorites. The service is generally attentive and friendly, with servers catering to customers' needs. The restaurant's decor is modern and elegant, with a spacious interior that can accommodate large groups. The hibachi tables are particularly popular, providing an entertaining dining experience with skilled chefs. The food is delicious and consistency is impressive, with chefs being fun and engaging. However, getting into the parking lot can be difficult if not paying attention. While the food is generally good, some customers have noted that it can be a bit salty. The rice and vegetables are usually fresh and well-seasoned, although there have been occasional issues with hard pieces in the rice. Additionally, there have been some concerns about extra charges for additional vegetables that were not clearly communicated. The volcano roll was really good. Overall, Hokkaido is a popular and enjoyable dining experience, offering a variety of delicious Japanese cuisine in a lively and modern setting.
