“We recently had dinner at the Chicago Steakhouse at Gold Strike. Very nice elegant place.
We walked in and I was dressed for the occasion. Dinner jacket, slacks, the whole deal. I was wearing a fedora. The hostess politely asked me to remove it. I was a little puzzled. It wasn’t a gang cap, but a fedora with a dinner jacket. That seemed like the right hat for the room. Policy is policy, so off the hat came.
The server was excellent, the meal was outstanding, and I ordered the elk osso buco, which was absolutely fantastic. Rich, tender, beautifully done. No complaints whatsoever about the food.
But while we’re enjoying this elegant dinner, I glance behind me and notice the couple in the booth behind us. She’s wearing a baseball cap. She was giggling, making a scene, foot up on the u-shaped booth, male friend fondling her.
Meanwhile, I’m sitting there bare-headed feeling undressed. Maybe I had complex about my baldness. So naturally, I asked my wife Minnie for my hat back. I put it on. Within moments, the staff returned and reminded me again that hats weren’t allowed for men. I should have asked, “What if I identify as a woman?”.
How is a fedora the problem…when the baseball cap and circus-level booth gymnastics are apparently fine?
Dinner itself was great. My brother-in-law Larry and my sister Donna were with us, and we had a fantastic time laughing about the whole situation.
And then there were the desserts. When we walked in, we saw these incredible dessert trays—beautiful chocolate cakes with huge strawberries on top, strawberries the size of small apples. They looked amazing.
Someone suggested we take dessert back to the room and enjoy it later. Romantic, right? So, we ordered the chocolate cake to go. Later that night, back in the room, we open the box with great anticipation. And what do we find?
Chocolate cake. No strawberries. Minnie was livid.
The food was excellent. The service was great. The atmosphere was beautiful.
There is a strict dress code on hats… but no enforcing a “feet off the booth and strawberries included” policy.
Overall, a very good meal.
Just remember:
Leave your hat at home…
and double-check the strawberries before you leave.”

“Food and service was great. I expected more choices, it was okay being Sunday. My other visits was more delicious. Shrimp cocktail, pork chop and vegetables are great.”
“My friend and I had dinner there. The service, the food and the ambiance were exceptional. The only thing better was my dinner date. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. We loved our waitress, Jen! Very helpful with menu selection. My dinner companion watched me as I ate my appetizer of scallops. He commented that I really must have enjoyed them, because I smiled so much while eating. Definitely would recommend this steakhouse to friends and family.”

“We stayed at the Hollywood Hotel and ate here. Spicy chicken sandwich and chicken quesadilla and fries. The chicken quesadilla def lacked flavor but overall the food was good.”

“We got two of the pepperoni pizzas and they were amazing!
I also got a cheesecake and it was alright too. For it to be packed at 3 am, they did an awesome job getting everyone out as quick as they could”
“This is a bar and grill is inside a casino. Food was really good. Smoked baby back ribs were meaty and tender. A half order is still enough for most people to share. Fried catfish was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The onion ring tower was piled with large tempura battered rings which were great. Even the sides were good. My baked beans had a generous amount of ground beef making a hearty side dish. Will definitely go again if we are in the area.”
