I loved the box of fun hats so we could get into it! The food was subpar, but you're going for the experience. The little sweets were good. Food is pricy for something that felt like it was made in my own kitchen...slap some cream cheese and two cucumbers on half a piece of white bread and charge an arm and a leg. We ended up splitting one Formal Tea between four people which was enough for little snacks for us for the afternoon. Would I go back, yes, but mostly for the hats...
I returned to the English Rose Tea Room because of my excellent experience the first time. I enjoy the ambience and high tea served. The scones are the fluffiest I have ever had, which makes the tea delightful. I have had high tea at many locations, and this one is the best I have encountered. Not surprising when there is an USA Today article in the alcove where it is listed as one of the top ten in the US.
Everything about our visit was fabulous! The decor inside and out was splendid. The service was amazing. All the diners were dressed for tea, with most of us wearing lovely hats. A couple of times the staff came out to sing Happy Birthday to certain guests. I will definitely go again!
