I must admit this is an old local favorite, and you're sure to like it if you're from Utah or a snowbird from the Midwest. I'm not saying it's bad, but it is bland as Blanding. If that's what you're after, this place (or Cafe Rio) are for you. Otherwise, you should be willing to explore elsewhere.
I have had Mexican food in 42 states and La Fonda is the only one that has sopaoillas and they are worth the wait and have the best food any where . I was lucky to start eating there at 11 years old and go every time I am there. I had Uncle and Aunt that lived in Chicago. We came into LaFonda tonight and there must have been 70+ people coming through. The staff didn’t miss a beat! Mary (the owner) always remembers how I like my food/plate even if it’s been a while since I’ve been in. The food is a statement of its own, simply put delicious! They offer a family atmosphere and we enjoy its the gathering place for Camp Verde folk. LaFonda takes care of the community treating everyone like family, all while maintaining a wonderful reputation...
