We were staying in Flagstaff for two nights to hike the Grand Canyon and stumbled upon Shift on the first night. It was later in the evening and we didn't have a reservation. We got in and sat at the community table. We had no expectations of anything since we just stumbled in and we were just happy to grab a seat. First course came out, savory sorbet. Blown away. It was sooo good. We had about four other items, all delicious. The next night, after our hike, we went back. Only reservation was at 8:30, worth the wait. Everything is delicious. The cocktails are creative. The staff is kind, intelligent, and incredibly hospitable. Love this place and would make this a once-a-week spot if I lived in Flagstaff. Wish I could remember the names of all of the other dishes we ate!! Go here.

Good food but be careful if you have food allergies. I've eaten here and, even after thoroughly talking with the staff about my allergies, I found out afterwards that I ate something that contained gluten.

Great service. Menu has enough change to keep it fresh, but also has some regular items that you look forward to. Waitresses are awfully nice and explain your dishes in a non-annoying way. Ingredients are interesting choices, but they work.

Cozy, epicurean gem! We really enjoyed the food here - there were so many unique flavors combinations and textures. I never had a savory cilantro sorbet as an appetizer before (net net, it was delicious).I looked up the staff bios on their website and many people came from Amangiri, so you know it's legit top notch.Drinks were luscious and the presentation of the dishes were beautiful. Didn't get the burger but it looked amazing.QR code menu if that matters to you.

We come here once a year usually. This time around we had THE BEST scallops I have ever had!!! It was so good we ordered another plate lol....The staff is very friendly and will make recommendations as needed. The space is cozy. The cocktails are great. I recommend getting an app and an entree due to portion sizes. Looking forward to our next visit!

Made reservations. What an experience! Staff was friendly and service was received within a timely manner. When initially looking at the menu I wasn't to impressed with some of the combinations but man was it amazing! Get the pickle fries, get the scallops, get the burger, and get the pumpkin ganache. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Last time here! Management talks over guests and calls them rude. Don’t order the four course meal and expect to be full.We came here for a lovely birthday dinner for my boyfriend and ordered the four course meal. Both of our first times ever for a four course meal. Came via recommendations and amazing food. We had a bad experience and waited to call the manager after a few days of debating if it was even worth it to give them a chance. Decided to reach out to them…The manager kept talking over me and making up excuses every time I tried explaining our issue. We had never had scallops before and the chef that brought them to our table never explained that to us. We thought they tasted cold and soggy. After the manager asked which entree we would’ve preferred over the phone - she didn’t even let me answer before cutting in to tell me that I don’t know how many different way a scallop can be prepared.I finally had enough of the phone after the manager has told me I said “horrible rude things to one of my friends that knew the chef.” This was our first time speaking. I’m appalled at the customer service of the manager Kaitlyn. She never let me finish a thought or sentence. Wish they made it right for us instead of losing us as a local customers. The staff during the meal had served us two rounds of sorbet one with goat cheese and oil as a palette cleanser and a once as the fours course meal dessert. Two sorbets. They had a bake sale the prior day where they sold fresh made desserts. We also had two pumpkin purées - the first purée was not seasoned and cold, under 2 poached scallops. The second was under the second sorbet(dessert). Two sorbets and two pumpkin purées for a $75 four course meal. What a joke. We were served two scallops as our entree while everyone around us had amazing cuts of meat leaving a steam trail behind. It was such a bad experience. We went to Sosoba after and got some amazing ramen, balls of fire and amazing drinks served by one of the managers! :)

I had a really enjoyable visit to Shift Kitchen on my first visit to Flagstaff. I stopped by on the recommendation of my executive chef and was so pleasantly surprised, excited even. The staff is so hospitable, even without a reservation they managed to fit me in comfortably. From what I understand the menu is constantly changing with exciting new additions seasonally. The chef and team do a great job of showcasing fantastic ingredients and techniques. I was truely impressed with how the pickled fries were executed (it even sparked a brainstorm with my own team lol). The porkchop was juicy, crispy, and paired perfectly with the green and apple salad. The "I can change" cocktail was so very refreshing and had a great tart quality to it. I was so pleastly surprised that I kinda wished I had a second stomach or more time to explore this menu. The location is a clean, fun, cozy event where you can get very intimate with the operation. The line calls out orders in a fun manner (communication on the hotline warmed my soul). Everyone on the front of the house side was so kind to this lonely traveler/dinner it really warmed my heart. Ive rarely experienced a restaurant that felt as if I was sharing a table at a family dinner. This place attracts a great crowd of open friendly people. I had a great conversation with a fellow solo-diner that lead to tons of new spots to check out. Caitlin was so sweet by invited me to visit for industry night (Tuesdays) which makes this place even more of a jewl. Im really looking forward to returning and watching the menu and how it changes. Im so happy to tell everyone headed to Flag of this fantastic institution. This is the kinda operation I crave and search for. Im so very happy to add this place to the gems on my map. I guess ill be visiting Flagstaff alot more often. Thank you for being incredible! You got fire in a bottle.

My partner and I wanted to try this place when we were visiting Flagstaff. We started off with the breadboard, which for the most part was very good. Loved that they homemake the cheese and butter they use, and sourdough was baked nicely. For our entrees we had the mushroom risotto and the pappardelle. The risotto itself did not have much flavor, it was honestly pretty bland and lacking any kind of acidity to balance it. The enoki mushrooms however were the saving grace as they were delicious. The pappardelle was also okay, it did have good acidity. You can definitely tell they are trying to uphold a high class standard, but the food just slipped below our expectations.

Outstanding quality across the board. Cannot recommend enough. Good portion sizes, fair pricing, incredible food/drinks/service. Will be back again. Perfect place for a cute, and personal date that steps above/outside of your standard expectations for a high-standard dining experience.

I am not as well traveled as many, but I have lived in Manhattan, New Orleans and Scottsdale (several Michelin stars etc). Spent weeks in Europe, middle east, central America etc. I think 4 of my top 20 dishes of my life come from this little tiny place in flag. My favorite restaurant in Arizona if you care about eating interesting and flavorful food. The chef is badass too...a master at her craft. (From what I can see at the counter in front of the kitchen)

Although I was initially taken a little aback when we got to the restaurant and were sat at a brightly-lit counter directly between 2 other dining couples (not the atmosphere I expected or prefer), I had one of the most unique and delicious dining experiences of my life ordering the chef's tasting menu. The salad, pasta, and scallops were all fantastic, but the standout dish of the night that my partner and I can't stop talking about was a mid-meal palette cleansing dish consisting of green apple sorbet, sea salt, chevre cheese, and olive oil. Overall, it was a pleasantly surprising experience that I would highly recommend.
