“I am a recent transplant in Lake Havasu City, AZ and have heard nothing but amazing reviews about the great food being served through the doors of a gas station. I have never associated and type of truly edible foods with any nutritious value to come out of a gas station. It's a stigma. I know. Anyway, it was as far reaching as it would've been had I not experienced some insanely delicious broasted chicken out of a roadside no-name gas station in Sanford, FL. I stopped for gas and when I went inside to pay - I was overcome with the smell of true deliciousness. WTF!? Who is making this? And right behind the counter - a few feet from the register - stood a HUGE BROASTER!! The gentleman was just pulling out a batch and WOW!! I ordered some and got in the car. The chicken didn't make it 3/4 mile to the freeway I needed to get on. Mind-blowing! Well, here I am at a gas station getting fried chicken! I'm going in...1:58pm I wasImpressed that this place is as clean as it is. There is seating inside as well as outside. The smell when you walk in is AMAZING! The service was quick. The gentleman was coating chicken while the other served and the other took orders. Each one worked to accomplish keeping the guest happy and it worked!!People waiting for chicken were smiling and drooling. The fried chicken...was just friggin outrageous!! I Had a thigh, drumstick & wing combo. The Jambalaya was very tasty. The rice was tender and the spices weren't too overwhelming. Nice chunks of chicken and sausage! It was an appropriate expression of the classic dish. I would have it again. The Mac-N-Cheese was as I expected after having tried the Jambalaya...Appropriate. The cheese sauce was filled with that pasty Velvetta cheese feel. It was a reminder of childhood Mac. Again. When I come back - and I will - I will dip into this again. They offer 3 hot sauces - I went with Tabasco because it was what I was feeling at the time. The biscuit...tasty. WAYYY TOO SMALL - my suggestion is that you make the biscuits bigger and charge more. You can easily make them twice the size. Here's the bummer...The only failure was the chicken sandwich. I'm guessing it was just under the lights a bit longer than it should've been. The chicken was soggy as the bag sweated under the lights. By the time I got to it - it was cold. I mean REALLY COLD and so not something I enjoyed. I will be back to try a fresh made one at some point and let you all know how it went. The honey butter was also a bit of a stretch. It doesn't have that flavor of butter. I'm guessing it is a butter derivative made for extended shelf storage. Not sure - but, I will be skipping that and asking for plain butter. All-in-all a really good SECOND TIME experience at a gas station selling chicken. Not for nothing but the broasted chicken in Sanford, FL - was better. Not by much trust me. But, now I have to factor in the airplane ride to get or it and so...Kristy Krunchy Chicken at the Texaco gas station it is! Though I will probably be ordering the family size. Come check this place out. Even if it's off the beaten path. It'll be worth the trip.Bring a friend or 12!! Check me out on YouTube at @OTMWCWG - for cooking videos. The outdoor seating - a gazebo with cement tables and benches- is really convenient and kept really clean. The outside does have one draw back - the silence is marred only by the constant buzzing of the exhaust on the rooftop and so if you have music - bring it along. I'm also going to say that the outside seating area is dog-friendly! Just remember to respect the area and pick up after your furry friends. Check this grubbery out!!!“
“This time they kept their promise of giving us 12 large pieces of chicken in bucket instead of their usual 4 small small pieces & 2 medium & 2 large pieces of chicken...didn't order any sides etc just the 12 large pieces of extra crispy chicken“
