IL Forno Italian Restaurant

Looks like this place is closed for business. For lease sign in the window and building sign gone. Entering for dinner. Hostess / server, "sit where you like", Us...uh every open table is dirty and needs to be bussed, they all had dishes on them. Once seated, we got lucky and had a good server. 2/3 of the other restaurant wasn't so lucky. They only had one good server. Service has always been a struggle here. In Mesa for a week on vacation, our last evening we wanted Italian & Il Forno was less than a mile from our hotel. We came in and were greeted and seated by a nice young lady that would also be our waitress. I ordered the bolognese which is a favorite if mine. Being from CT where Italian restaurants give a salad with the meal for $16 here at Il Forno that was not the case so I was hoping my meal would be amazing. The garlic bread was tasty. Today was my first time trying il Forno and I'm happy to say that It not only met my expectations it surpassed them from the Excellent service to the Great food tonight was all around Spectacular. I ordered a 12" mushroom and onion pizza as an appetizer and it was hands down the best pizza I've had in A while, the wood fired hand tossed crust is light and Scrumptious, the sauce was perfection.
