Best coffee in Phoenix (the whole city not just PHX Sky Harbor)! 🤗😆

Run of the mill cafe at Phoenix airport.

Food: Matcha Oatmilk Latte was prepared well. Also serves light snacks and pastries.

Ambiance: Airport gate hangout

Value: Prices were high for the quality of food and service. Expected for airport.

Had to lower my review. 3 hour layover, so I went back for a second coffee and a snack. Different barista (blond, tall, maybe manager? She was giving instructions to someone else when I walked u.) made it this time. Even after sitting for several minutes, (had to get settled at the gate, etc) the first gentle sip (this is a cortado, I savor it) horrendously burned my mouth.

Got the banana bread, very sweet. Disappointing from the initial experience that was literally an hour ago.

You know if there are plants hanging, the coffee is gonna be good. I can't handle acidity well, so I have to drink espresso that I dilute with a little milk. They made me a rich and smooth oatmilk cortado. 10/10. Great espresso. AMAZING for airport coffee.

I had the best time here. The experimental coffee and cookie were excellent BUT… the service was even better. Cecelia is next level. Thank you for the great experience.

One of the best airport coffee shops I’ve come across. Typically airport coffee is pretty terrible no matter where you go but their coffee here is excellent

Light roast coffee that hasn’t been sitting out! And great customer service!

Really well done coffee for an airport, I was genuinely surprised. At $7 for a agave sweetened latte, it was a bit pricey, but it tasted so much better than any artificially flavored drink that I might have gotten at the nearby Starbucks. Money well spent 👍🏽

I always look forward to my Phoenix layovers because of Cartel! The staff are always friendly, the hot burritos and SALSA can't be beat, and you wont find a better cup of coffee before your flight!

The airport (and air travel in general) is in no uncertain terms, a boschian hellscape. To find a small corner in which mediocrity is not paraded before the masses, and in which a notion of care in selection/offering is promoted, is such a beautiful thing.
