I really liked the side dishes here. The Mac&Cheese, Black Eyed Peas and Greens were my favorites. The chicken was cut differently than any place I've tried around the country, but the batter and flavor was classic southern food.

This was our first time visiting, and initially, we were digging this place, but it all went to hell when my food arrived. I love the fact that it was served fresh, but they charge $30 for the chicken dinner, and they tried serving me 3 dark pieces of meat. Now mind you, I asked before I ordered what pieces came with the meal. The young lady told me overall they will be nice big pieces, which is why I ordered it. They gave me 2 small thighs and a drumstick, and when brought to their attention the lady from the kitchen came out, and sounded as if she was ready to go back and forth with me about the chicken. She stated they usually give 2 dark and 1 white. I responded by stating they gave me all dark. She then stated the mistake was on them, but still wanted to charge us $4.50 for the breast!.. I looked at my husband like...... hoooowww does that make sense?!... I wanted to just scrap the whole plate, but I had eaten most of the side. Not to mention I had to sit there for another almost 30 minutes for the breast!.. There was no apology, no customer service, no nothing!... Then when I finally get the breast, it's like a half of a breast!. Thankfully when my husband went up to pay for the food she took the breast charge off.. FIRST and LAST TIME EVER VISITING THIS PLACE!..

This cafe is a little tricky to get to being amidst one way streets, but they are super friendly and the food is great! Excellent black-eyed peas, sweet potatoes, chicken fried steak, cornbread and more.

Excellent first time experience; amazing good food and service! Have wanted to try Mrs. Whites chicken for a long time. Stars finally aligned last night. Was able to come in just before 6pm on a Tuesday. Greeted like family, treated like old friends by our server, and fed like of grandma cooked it. Best food we have had in a long time. Thank you very much! Not a single thing I wouldn't order again. All great! Highly recommend! Sock it to me cake recommended, tried (not shown) was amazing!

Stopped in here during the November Nights festival because it smelled good walking past.

Lemme tell you, this is HANDS DOWN the best soul food spot I’ve eaten at in Phoenix, and I LLLOOVVEEEE me some soul food. I had the 3 Peice with cabbage and green beans, and my husband had the 3 piece with Yams and Mac. When I tell you this sh*t was fire, I am NOT kidding. I NEVER clear my plate but both my husband and myself left no crumbs on those plates! I highly recommend you check this place out. We will definitely be back to try some more off their menu!! Also our server was Regina and she was so sweet, not just to us but everyone else in the place too! 10/10, do yourself a favor and come eat here. The last photo is my husband literally scraping his bowl of yams clean lol. They were out of cornbread so get in earlier in the day/early evening if you want the good stuff too!

Great place for fried chicken_ catfish etc.
Service was a bit slow but it was an opportunity to talk with staff very friendly

This was my 3rd time in 5 years and still, I’m not impressed.
The check was for $81.00!
The 2 non-trimmed fat oxtails were $30.00!
Just removing the meat/fat from the bones made me nauseous and I had to give them to my husband.
I give the cabbage an A+.
As for my husband’s plate… so when did folks start cutting thighs in half to make 2 pcs? #Tragic

A bit of advice on customer service when folks walk in. Walk from behind the counter with menus and seat them. Never point to areas on where folks can sit.
That’s just tacky.

Good luck to the new guy in training working there. Try a bit more eye contact. 👍🏾

This food is the best most freshest best tasting in the world. I got the vegetable platter. It came with collard greens, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, cabbage, green means, rice, Black Eyed Peas, red beans, and then I got a side of smothered steak, breaded steak it was the best I’ve ever had hats off to this place. They’ve been here for a long time and they really know what they’re doing. I would highly recommend it. Do you know how to do it right it is the best soul food ever.
