“My family and I love going to tanuki! The owner is the nicest person ever and always present when we go. She always gives the kids a little treat and makes our whole family feel so welcome. Being Japanese, it's hard to find comfort food for me in SV, so whenever I don't feel like cooking, my husband and I grab tempura soba and it fulfills the craving. The food is made with a lot more "love" than other places in town where you can get Japanese food and is so much more personal. We will continue being regulars.“
“Horrible experience. $60.00 worth of a meal to ask for my veggies in the rice extra rice no veggies period. And a roll they used to make for me special because I'm severally allergic to shell fish. The flaming mignon roll with NO SEAFOOD and sure enough there's imitation crab on it so I can't even touch it, didnt realize it till i bit into already. Honestly this place used to be amazing but ever since the new ownership took over its gone down hill. This is the second time ordering carry out my order has been messed up. And once going in to the same thing at the hibachi grill. I used to work here so seeing how poor it's become to how great it once used to be is extremely sad and heart breaking. Tried to give it multiple chances now and regretting that I have and especially now with having to drug myself with benadryl rather than going to the hospital. Thank you so much.“
“The quality and love poured into the food sets this place above par. The portions were filling and the flavors were amazing. 10/10 recommend giving them a try. We got the tako maki sushi roll (sans cream cheese), birria tacos (consume on point), and chicharrones for appetizer. Friendly service!“
