“The food was really good. We were seated super fast. Service was good with the exception that we had a couple gift cards that we tried using and the server was unable to help. A supervisor had to come and assist. Additionally, the little tablet thing on the table did not work which was pretty frustrating. We tried using 3 different cards before we figured it is probably broken. The reason for the 3 star service is just the fact that people do not know how to use their systems and that can be frustrating. I just wish servers were trained a little more on other things as well. We chose this restaurant only because of the gift cards. The food was great otherwise so we would come back.“

“My first time here and oh my gosh!!! The mini cornbread in the tiny cast iron skillet was so cute and tasty!! We ordered the old school trio as an appetizer salsa/queso/guacamole with chips. Really tasty! Guac has a kick to it!!! I ordered the fried snapper, it was amazing and hot!!! Boyfriend had the salmon and cleaned his plate. Sides are rice and broccoli/carrots. Yummy too!! Definitely will be back to try more dishes!!“

“Never been to Phoenix area before and wanted to find a very local authentic restaurant. We found it....Cocina Madrigal was exactly what we were looking for...We actually sat at the bar since there was a short wait for a table. I was here with a college friend who lived out of the state also. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. We had the combination Taco/Burros/Tamales/Enchiladas...Our gracious bartend/waitress suggested the perfect way they should be prepared. All the employees were very friendly and make you feel incredibly welcomed. Highly recommend and we will return when we are traveling through Phoenix..“

They are so good to me when i bring my kids, they take the time to help situate them with me (twin stroller, iykyk) They are so sweet with bringing out all the mandarin oranges and french fries for these little picky toddlers and all the servers and staff have been so so sweet every time i come in! i appreciate that when going to a restaurant! it's not easy going out with 3 under 3, so when you find a place that treats you good and not a burden it needs to be praised! Plus all the food is good!“

“Being from Cali, my wife and I we’re very familiar with Baja Fresh. My wife missed it a lot. She was excited to try the new place. The food was ok, certainly not spectacular, it was a little skimpy on the meat and more expensive than I remembered. $20 for a taco, a burrito and a drink??!? I could have gone to the finest Mexican restaurant in town and order a much more reasonable combo plate. Also, bring so new, none of the young employees had a clue as to what they were doing. Not in any rush to come back.“

Kid-friendliness: Noisy on a Saturday evening but there were plenty of kids in the place. They have colouring/puzzle sheets to keep the kids busy while they wait for their food.

“On the Border Chandler Arizona. So typically, we get great service here but not so much this time. We came in end of lunch rush as I have worked food service before. It started with our both with a dirty seat and dirty table... no worries, this happens. There's a total of 3 tables in our server's area counting us. Sit down after the quick rag clean... server comes to the table with a bowl of chips n' salsa and asking if we want margaritas 🍹 🤔.. "No thanks, coke n tea please thank you." I say politely as I am towards all servers. The server makes zero eye contact, saying "sure" quickly moving to the next table. I'm like, cool, it's New years Eve. She's probably having a rough day, or she's not happy to be working.. it's whatever... drinks come we make our order 2 plates of southwest tacos 3 per plate 🍽 I order 2 extra (don't judge me they are bomb and make me fat guy happy) it's our regular actually as we come to this location regularly. I order a another bowl of chips and a side of queso while we waiting for tacos 🌮 😋. It takes them 40 minutes to bring queso and it's cold with a skin on top. We have also gone through all the salsa plus we have like 4 tortilla chips left. Server oh you got chips ok good.. I have zero opportunity to respond before she moves on to another table (you know out of the 3 that has guests). I finish my coke and do the typical set cup on the edge of the table showing that I need another... 10 minutes and server brings 2 drinks with out saying anything (I'm like cool) say "thanks can we get more chips and salsa? Oh and could you please heat up the queso? Thanks" server looks at queso without making eye contact still... one word response "sure".. 5 minutes brings queso back it's warm so good to go.. I'm starving at this point so we both burn through the cheese like it's liquid gold... 😫 another 10-15 minutes and taco plates come out.. one plate is a taco shy... and normally the plates come with sauce.. plus we have onions on the side because I don't eat them but she does.. I remind the server "onions?" Server plating the table "Yes... give me a minute.." at this point I am not happy so I eat one taco and give Janet Hook the extra as she didn't get 3 like ordered... I've just not had such a bad experience here. I almost didn't tip but it is not something comfortable doing. I hope that they improve or I'll not coming back!“
