I had not been here since it came under new management. Went last night and what I feared was the case, it changed. I knew right away from the number of customers. We got seated fast. I didn’t mind the crazy long wait before because I knew I was going to get exceptional quality and service. My michelada was watered down and flavorless. My carne seca chimi was dry and the enchilada sauce is no longer homemade and unctuous but bitter and obviously straight from a can. So disappointing,...
The reviews stated that the food was good. Which is sort of is. Just not anything to write home about. The people were nice and the atmosphere was too. The bean taco, chili relleno, were good.
We'd never been before, and we've lived in Tucson over 50 years. We were a bit underwhelmed. The margarita was too sweet, they didn't have the necessary ingredients for a bloody mary, the chips were bland and hard, the salsa, while hot, lacked flavor somehow. The beans and rice (my guilty pleasure, best part of the meal) were just okay. Positives: the carne seca had just the right texture and flavor and the red enchilada sauce was tasty.
