Excellent people, excellent meat department, excellent variety. Big fan of their marinated chicken thighs and skirt steak. And if you want a nice little treat, the Chuckey steak is always a good choice.
Drove from Vail to Tucson looking for a carnecia for pork fat. Found it, but on the way home discovered a full service meat market and grocery store, within minutes of home. You can get food to eat there but it's not a restaurant. Small seating area. Has a very nice produce display. It offers an extensive meal selection of pork, chicken and beef. What is really unique is they will cook the meat for you, at no charge. You can call ahead and the meat will be ready on time and...
The staff at Mr. Toro is great. The meat is fresh and they have a wide variety of options. Also, the hot food bar has fresh chicharron, tamales and other local favorites. They have seasoned meat ready to hit the grill or standard options. The prices are fair, and across the board commensurate with other grocery stores in the Vail or East side areas of Tucson. The diezmillo (Top Sirloin Cap) sliced thin is my go-to when we are doing a carne asada.
