Drove from Vail to Tucson looking for a carnecia for pork fat. Found it, but on the way home discovered a full service meat market and grocery store, within minutes of home. You can get food to eat there but it's not a restaurant. Small seating area. Has a very nice produce display. It offers an extensive meal selection of pork, chicken and beef. The staff at Mr. Toro is great. The meat is fresh and they have a wide variety of options. Also, the hot food bar has fresh chicharron, tamales and other local favorites. They have seasoned meat ready to hit the grill or standard options. The prices are fair, and across the board commensurate with other grocery stores in the Vail or East side areas of Tucson. The diezmillo (Top Sirloin Cap) sliced thin is my go-to when we are doing a carne asada.
This is one of the better carnicerias in Tucson. The meat is always fresh and seasoned just right, they have a great selection of tortillas, and the small area to get produce is always clean and looking good. Give these guys and gals a try!
