We went to Javier having very high expectations. The best way to describe Javier is Latino Comfort Food. Don't go expecting spicy flavors, fusion cuisine etc that is not who they are.
We are in our 40's and having our parents who do not enjoy spicy dishes was fantastic way to introduce them to latin food like plantains, yucca etc.
We'll plated comfort food, we enjoyed the carne asada tacos, and the mole enchiladas best. The margaritas were okay.
The service is good. A tad slow. Not necessarily where I would go for a quick meal. Enjoying and sharing all the dishes is what I would suggest doing.
The atmosphere is mostly some light Latino music in the background coupled with some art on the wall. Could use some upgrades.
I find Javier a perfect introduction to Latin cuisine for those who have never tried and are not big on spices.
That said if you enjoy spices I would recommend going elsewhere.
Entire menu is gluten free.
Reservations here are a must.

Unremarkable, really. The food was good (clean a well prepared, for the most part). But it lacked depth of flavour, portions were on the smaller side, and we probably would have eaten better at a local taco joint

Excellent and authentic Latin food. The conventional fare is here (enchiladas, tacos, fajitas), but for a real treat try the specialties from Peru, Venezuela and Colombia. Homemade corn chips (complementary and fresh from the fryer) and churros were outstanding. Pork kabobs (Peru) were a peppery delight. We also enjoyed the arepas - maize flatbread stuffed with cheese (Colombia). For those seeking gluten free dining, the entire menu complies.

Staff were great, atmosphere was nice but we found the food quite basic and the portions were small. We ordered the Seafood and rice and the Venezuelan Dish. I did tell the waitress that we were still hungry and she said she would mention it to the owner.

Cute little restaurant. The owner is really nice and he didn’t lie when he said that he makes a fabulous margarita. We found the food to be just okay and unfortunately not really worth the price - we ordered steak fajitas and the beef stir fry. While I see the charm of this place, I don’t really see the value. What you see in the photo was $30/dish! However, I’d give it another shot and order different items next time.

Cute little family run restaurant, food was really delicious and wholesome, staff were very friendly and attentive, I had the steak fajitas (4) and would definitely go back to try some of the other tasty looking dishes.

After a long day of cycling, we came here with an appetite. I had the most dry chicken dish that was advertised as Javier’s mother’s dish with roasted veggies, chicken, rice and plantains. My husband enjoyed a seafood rice dish. We splurged on the fried ice cream and flan for dessert.

We have eaten at Javier's several times and have taken various family members there at different times too. We are always blown away by the exceptional service and the absolutely delicious food. I would give them 15/10 every single time. One of our absolute favourite restaurants. Thank you from Erica and Terry (and all of our family) *********************
Delicious food and the staff were extremely welcoming and upbeat! Will be back here.
