We just went to the Waves on Hastings. Great service and even better coffee! We are only in town for a night but I will be stopping on my way to the airport tomorrow.
The location on Shaughnessy St in PoCo is awful. The owner frequently gets drink orders wrong and then either blames the customer or the staff, and during the May Day parade yesterday a crowd of people saw him try and kick an elderly woman out of one of their chairs on the sidewalk because she hadn't bought anything from them. Miserable man, overpriced coffee. Not worth it.
We went for breakfast. Sausages took a bite, and it was cold. The sausage patty was cold. It just tasted horrible and gross made me want to puke !

Waves Coffee House - 6th & 6th is a very cozy coffee spot on a corner in New Westminster. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, calm, clean, and perfect for studying, getting some work done, or hanging out with friends. Inside, there’s a small semi-private area for about 6 people great for comfortable conversations. The place is a bit small (only 4–5 tables), but there’s also outdoor patio seating, which is a big plus. The coffee is perfectly balanced, and the drinks are absolutely delicious, fresh, and made with care. The tea lattes are much better quality than Starbucks. The Caramel Macchiato is one of the best. The price is reasonable and not too expensive. The food tastes amazing every time, and there are nice dessert and snack options. The service is good, with very friendly and welcoming staff who are attentive, genuinely kind, and take pride in what they do. The only ask is for more vegan options, as just about all the baked goods, wraps, and sandwiches are not vegan.
