Urgghhhhhh- rude, disinterested staff and a serious misunderstanding of something called customer service. Here’s a few tips for you below:

1: SMILE at your customers as you’re more likely to get tipped. This is a service industry and nobody wants to be served by someone who looks like they’ve just been slapped by a salmon!

2: don’t say to customers that you need to speak to someone else who’s your server as this is just passing the buck. It’s lazy and evasive.

3: To the manager- motivate your team so they are happy in their work. I think you need training as a manager!

4: Take peoples order quickly as people have flights to catch so they don’t want to be waiting half an hour to make an order. Very simple to do.

5: When you ask how the food is (in this case a prawn cocktail) and I say not great. DON’T laugh!!! The correct response is to ask what I wasn’t happy with. I’ll tell you here. $25 for 5 prawns on bad salad wi to a bed of ice and some weird tomato sauce. This is not a prawn cocktail.

6: Please take note that I saw at least 5 unhappy customers in the short span of being in this diabolical restaurant so this is not just some random unhappy customer.

7: Given that the other restaurants in the airport are all sadly gross unhealthy fast food this should be much, much better and Vancouver airport should really be way more on the case than they are with the food being served up. Vancouver is awesome as is the food available in the city so it’s a crying shame that the airport is so awful.

FYI: I have requested to speak to the manager to give them the feedback. On the positive side Jolene did listen to the feedback and said she wound pass it onto head office. Can I suggest that head office listen to her and make a few changes to improve the vibe and service.

Good luck.

Rude, miserable staff. I wish I had read the reviews before sitting down.

Out of all the amazing non-alcoholic beers they could stock, the only one they have is corona… I know we are a captive audience and your hostesses attitude certainly reflected that, but at least give some decent options.

Possibly the worst service and food I have ever had. All of the eggs have to be “well done”.

I hate eating in the international wing because it is only fast food and this horrible place.

The food on the domestic side is much better.

Vancouver airport, step up your game!

So, I had a to wait a couple of minutes even though the place was near empty, simply as the bar person was chatting with the waitperson??
I ordered karaage and gyoza - I was corrected from the correct pronunciation of karaage to kararje??
When given cutlery, I was given silverware - I guess as I’m Caucasian??
When the food arrived I looked for chopsticks as it would be weird using silverware for either of these dishes!! They were available which makes me wonder what they weren’t offered in the first place
I was 2/3 through the food with a near empty drink and asked to settle the bill as the waitperson was finishing their shift
Now my drink is empty and the plates are still on the table with the waitperson still wandering around chewing gum with their mouth open?? This is ten minutes after I finished eating and moved my plates to the side
I feel sorry for the other staff and should have said I was not ready to settle up - I did say I would be having another drink

Would I eat here again? Not if I was served by said staff member

Very mediocre, but good by airport standards. Expensive, the food is fine (but nothing to write home about), and the service was inconsistent. Quick to take our order, slow to get the food, slow to check up on us at any point. But, you can sit in a comfy chair with your bags and eat something hot.

I felt the need to help this place out since I don’t think it deserves such a terrible rating! I had two small plates and a few glasses of wine, and all were delicious. The servers were very friendly and I had a little booth which was nice for one person. I would have dropped a star for the expense, but it’s in keeping with the other places at the airport and it’s the only sit-in place on the international side of the terminal.

Server was lovely. Food was not. I knew it was overpriced but at least give some half decent food.

I am not normally inclined to enthuse over airport restaurants. As in - never. That is until now. Dealing with a small flight delay, I arrived and they provided a really good breakfast, and this comes from an international authority on breakfasts. They kept me well stalked with ice water and told me to take my time. So welcome. So refreshing.
