When ever I passed by this place I just smell the outside of the shop is it so bad and I can not even breath from that bad smell it is like a died animal or something and also the restaurant always looks not busy and poor
So glad this place is closing down along with their other location.
6months ago, I sent them an email privately in regards to possible food contamination, which caused both my partner and I to have diarrhea throughout the night.
Owner took zero responsibility. Only followed up with a comment on the review I left, but nothing else privately.
Irresponsible owners like this is an obvious red flag.
I really love Pokey Okey's bowls, they taste fantastic, but order only in person at this location.
Have been having poke bowls here for a few years, it was my favourite but the consistency of their bowls' portion is disappointing.
Especially when ordering through online delivery it's usually less than what I would have gotten compared to ordering in person. A medium bowl has almost the same amount of food as a small.
Don't think I'm coming back anymore but it did taste nice.👍🏻
Poke is my favourite food and this is my favourite place to get it. The food is fresh, the sauces work so well with the ingredients, and they provide a wide range of options of ingredients. They also have an app! If you download it, you can get bonus poke bowls and special deals :)
Ordered a yellow bowl and the spicy salmon taste stale, after calling store they did not apologize at all, I ask the lady to check it out to make sure it’s not selling to other customers, then she hang up on me.
My favourite poke in the Richmond area, came here all the time during my semester at KPU and full time work. Portions are decent and the quality is superb. Definitely prefer coming here over Steve’s when in Richmond.

The food is great, but there are some issues with customer service. I ordered two bowls on their website last week, but one of them was wrong. I sent an email to let them know, but I never received a reply. The customer service could definitely use some improvement.

Hi. I made an Uber order at Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel last night, but I accidentally canceled it. Uber said they send money to your store. Can you wrap it up again? It almost 50 dollars.

Great poke. I've been going here since they opened years ago and will continue to support them! Their fish is always nice, large, fresh pieces, and the tooppings are also delicious. Their rice is really good, which makes this my favorite poke place. The staff is always friendly, and I've never had to wait long for my orders. Love this place!

So good. I've had it twice in 1 week now. Red bowl and yellow bowl. Loved them both.
Edit: I still really like pokey okey but they keep raising their prices all the time so I don't go nearly as often as I used to. It used to be 13.50ish for small, then 14. something a short time later, now it's 15.11. aggressive price increases over pretty short periods of time
I’ve been coming here for awhile and the bowls have always been good. However, I’ve recently been finding fish bones in my poke. The first two times they were quite small, but this time it was half the length of my index finger. You guys should probably do better quality control. Service has always been great though so no complaints there.

Great spot, one of the few gluten free, celiac-friendly options in Richmond. Staff is very knowledgeable, and can make most bowls gluten free if you ask (just for you!) Outside table is shaded for hot lunch hours.
Food poisoning/contamination
EDIT: After seeing the owner's reply, I sent an email as per request. Unfortunately, I was once again dismissed and ignored. Not going to bother wasting my time reaching out any further.
Original review: I contemplated whether I should write this review or not. I've sent them an email about my concern, with a follow up email 4days later after not hearing a reply. It appears they don't care whether their quality of food is properly handled, or they simply chose to ignore my email.
I'll copy and paste my email I sent below:
Hello there,
I'm writing this email in regards to a possible food safety concern which caused both my girlfriend and I to have diarrhea throughout the night and this morning, causing us both to call in sick for work.
I've regularly ordered from your shop for the past year and this was the first time it happened.
We ordered two build-your-bowl at approximately 8:10pm on June 10th Wednesday:
Large - Brown rice - 2 imitation crab, 1 pineapple, 1 corn, 1 seaweed salad
- 1x spicy tuna, 1x scallop salad, 1x salmon
- miso sesame dressing
- fried garlic and onion
Large - brown rice - 2 imitation crab, 1 corn, 1 seaweed salad, 1 edamame
- 3x spicy tuna
- miso sesame dressing
- fried garlic and onion
If you'd like to check our transaction, the last 4 digits of the credit ends in VISA (censored).
I'm not expecting any compensation or any sort, I wanted to raise this concern to prevent other customers from experiencing the same issue. Thank you and have an awesome day! ?
