Over the years, I have been to Yolks many times. This time I was extremely dissatisfied. The service and the atmosphere was not great. The restaurant was very loud and it was mostly not the patrons but the servers talking. The last two times I have been, I have received my breakfast cold. I understand timing can be difficult especially when someone in your party orders something that takes longer to cook like the fried chicken, but that is no reason for other guests to receive ice cold food. It is especially disappointing because their flavor profiles are good. I would consider giving this place a miss.

We tried the burgers and English muffins. It was nice overall. Coffee is very good. However, considering it's for breakfast, it's quite expensive.

Massive plate of epic cinnamon roll pancakes- so hot, moist and flavourful, topped with icing and nuts. Possibly the best pancakes I've ever tasted.Truffle potatoes were amazing as well. Really great food and kind

Best chicken and waffles in the world. Been coming for 11 years or so; since they were only a food truck. I’ve heard that the other menu items are great, bit I dont know cause I always order the chicken and waffles.Did I mention the chicken and waffles?

I waited a couple of hours before writing this, and was still very upset and I also read some other reviews from different people and it seems my friend and I experienced similar things. I usually come to the Cambie location and never have any problems but I had such a strange experience at the Hastings location. Arrived at this location at 11:56am, got seated around 12:20pm. The hostess and the person making the beverages at the front were super kind and friendly! Once seated we were promptly given the menu by the friendly hostess, then a male server came over and brought us water and gave us a couple minutes to order. He took our drink order first, and then said he would come back to take our food order. He never came back, another server came with our drinks shortly after and took our order. Everything so far is great! We ordered at around 12:30, we thought since it was busy the wait for the food was understandable, but we started to notice patrons who were seated and ordered AFTER us were given their food BEFORE us! We asked a different server and she said she would go ask the kitchen, came back and said our orders were coming in 2 minutes. If we never asked would our orders really come out in 2 minutes? The food came out at around 1:13pm. We ordered the buttermilk chicken and waffles benny and salmon benny- made into a bowl with a side of truffle potatoes. We aren’t sure since the salmon Bennie was made into a bowl if that made a difference but the menu says ALL Bennies include the herb tomato and the side of fruit. Buttermilk chicken did not have the tomato, and the side of truffle potatoes also didn’t come out until we asked for them. We didn’t want to risk another wait time if we had asked for the tomato or fruit, so we opted not to. Not sure if this was because we got our food right after we asked so maybe the kitchen just forgot something in haste but we noticed the truffle lemon potatoes didn’t taste as they did before. Instead of truffle lemon potatoes it tasted like we just got potatoes. Furthermore, not sure this is just a thing with making the Bennie’s into a bowl but considerably less salmon in the bowl than when I usually get it the regular muffin way. It was more of potato with a side of salmon. While waiting for our order no one had asked or noticed we were waiting for a considerably long amount of time. Yet we did see servers ask OTHER tables if they were alright or if their food was good. Very interesting observation. We also had initially ordered a 3 piece beignet order but we just wanted to leave after finishing our meal so we asked to cancel the beignets with the first male server. We paid and for the first time I didn’t include a tip, usually even if the service was bad I at least tip 10% but since it was only bad service SPECIFICALLY to ONLY our table of 2, it seems reasonable to me. This experience was really terrible. 3 stars for food as it came without some things (not sure if this was wrong or not but was already upset about the long wait time so the lack of things additionally dampened things) and the lack of truffle and lemon flavour from the potatoes and noticeable small salmon portion. 1 star for service because all of the above, the hostess and person at the front making drinks were lovely, to be fair the servers were nice as well? Just weren’t aware of us? Felt like they were ignoring us and only came over when we asked for help? 1 star for atmosphere because you start to hate it after seeing people get their food before you when you ordered before them. I really hope this was a one time thing, very disappointing.

Been here several times and generally has been pretty good. I like the food, especially the chicken and waffles. If you are looking for a breakfast spot, worth trying it out but can be hit and miss on service.

Today was our second visit to this cafe with the intention of grabbing a meal. However, the staff at the registration counter exhibited a rude attitude, being unfriendly and impolite. Disappointed with the service, we promptly decided to leave and chose not to dine there.

Edit: They took away the hash browns and now have frozen tator tots. With the option of the truffle potatoes for more money.Seriously, for average bill of 26 to 30 dollars per person and tator tots. And last time the quality was sub par compared to the last 10 times I went 2023.Was October for this review.Said to my wife it better be worth the 17 dollars for a Benny and was not disappointed. Just enough Hollandaise to not over power other flavors. Eggs spot on and the lemon truffle potatoes were delish. I recommend going during weekdays as weekends I have seen a lineup. Worth checking out...even before the Jam restaurant!
