About Brasserie L'Ecole

Brasserie L'Ecole offers a friendly atmosphere with slightly slow service initially but warm and welcoming staff. The restaurant is known for its great beer selection and provides advice on unfamiliar options, making it a wonderful place to explore food, atmosphere, service, and imported beers. While the duck confit may have been a bit dry, dishes like Beef Bourguignon, mussels, short rib, burger, and steak frites are so enjoyable that many customers forget to take pictures. The restaurant impresses with high-quality food and thoughtful gestures, although there can be minor service issues such as long waits for water and not adjusting the canopy during sunny meals. Recently, many have praised the burger as the best ever, describing it as amazing, and highlighting the friendly, helpful staff.

Diners have enjoyed meals like the French Onion Soup, which is rustic and cheesy, and the Beef Bourguignon, noted for being tender with perfectly cooked vegetables, creating an otherworldly experience. The halibut has been called one of the best in town, tender and juicy on the inside while beautifully crispy on top, though some found the sauce a bit salty. The trout, while tasty, was described as saltier and greasier, making it feel heavy. Brasserie L'Ecole feels like a step into a traditional Paris Bistro, with well-prepared dishes, a well-chosen 100% French wine list, and well-educated servers, making for fine dining. Despite being not cheap, many believe it is worth it, paying attention to little details that make it a standout restaurant. Overall, it remains a cozy spot with exceptional service, where diners can enjoy delicious meals in a welcoming setting.

Great food, and wonderful service; the management changed and it's still my favorite restaurant in Victoria! Get the burger!
Had a lovely birthday dinner with my daughter. The Pig Head starter is absolutely delicious and my duck confit was 10/10. My daughter had the gnocchi and said it was perfect. Love that there are not a million choices! French very well done.
Too easy to enjoy dinner here! Thank you for keeping this as authentic as day one.
