The best Chinese in Victoria hands down. You need to know what to order. Ask them!

If you're looking for Western style Chinese food, don't eat here. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, definitely eat here. ASK for recommendations, and you will get the best Chinese food Victoria has to offer.

The best authentic Chinese food in Victoria! The best thing to do is to ask for recommendations instead of ordering Western-Chinese, as the authentic dishes were incredible and better than anything I’ve had. We got the blackened chicken, eggplant, Sichuan green beans, fish hot pot, and ant up a tree noodles which were all so flavourful. The portions are also very generous for the price!

Absolutely delicious food and friendly service! I have dined in twice and ordered the fish hotpot, fried rice, blackened chicken, Sichuan chicken and spicy hairy crab. All of the dishes were phenomenal and the service was so great! The owner made a point of chatting with us about the dishes and she was so sweet and welcoming. Definitely my new favourite spot for Chinese food in Victoria.

Best food in the city. Get the black chicken and the eggplant mushroom. Anyone who tries it, falls in love. If you love spicy seafood hotpot, then grab the fish hot pot too!

The most delicious Chinese food on the island, especially the couple's lung slices, saliva chicken, and brown sugar glutinous rice cake are must-orders every time. The portions are large and the taste is authentic. The couple's lung slices sell out quickly, so it's best to call ahead and ask.

Fantastic Sichuan cuisine on their Chinese menu. For some reason they don’t have an English translation but they are very friendly and helpful when ordering. There are some great examples of what to order in other reviews here. Blackened chicken is a must and we love the eggplant. I usually attempt to try something new when I go. The owner is awesome and helps us choose. Classic Chinese restaurant focused on amazing food and if you know you know.

Worst experience I’ve ever had.
I wanted to stick with what I want to order and the owner reacted poorly after I rejected her recommendations, she rudely and quickly told us someone else will help us to order instead and walked away.
Food might be ok but expect poor service.
I was shocked and will never come back again.

Some of the best ma po tofu I've ever had, in a lovely classic setting, with a delightful server (owner?). Highly recommend

We just dined at Hongkong West Restaurant and ordered the Baby Octopus With Chili Pepper. The dish was severely undercooked—likely just defrosted and stir-fried for about a minute before being served. The octopus was so tough it was like chewing on plastic. When we informed the server, she relayed the message to the owner, who simply said, ‘That’s how the dish is,’ and refused to come out to discuss it with us. The dish was inedible, and the overall experience, including the taste and service, was deeply disappointing. We won’t be returning!

The menu is not complicated and is divided into Chinese and English. The boss of Husband and Wife Fei Pie recommended the small portion, but we didn’t expect that the portion we thought was super large. The price is fair and the quantity is large. I also ordered the dry pot sausage. The sausage was delicious, not fishy at all, and tender. It was the best sausage we have ever eaten. I also ordered the cumin mutton, which I don’t recommend. I always eat the kind of mutton that has more fat, and it’s cut into thin slices. This cut is good. Overall, it’s good.
