Same place as holiday inn.

It’s a Holiday Inn now actually, and it was very nice, quick service and great food…

Ignore all the reviews from before this year. They had me very nervous. This place has been completely updated with new bathrooms, beds, carpets, furniture, etc. They were still working on the lobby but even with construction it was quiet and a very pleasant stay. The bed was super comfortable and they had a choice of either soft or firm down pillows, as well as standard fill ones. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were charged for mini suite with kitchenette. There was no kitchenette, there wasn't even a microwave or a mini fridge in the room. The lamp light bulb was broken, shattered glass pieces, the toilet paper was moldy, there was only 1 coffee cup & only one packet of creamer which was ALREADY OPENED. When we checked in the clerk said she gave us a BCAA discount of $45.00. In fact, she added $45.00 to our room charge. I have asked to speak to the manager but no one has returned my calls. This was truly bad experience. N Moore

I was traveling with a party and required two rooms over the course of Thanksgiving weekend and stayed at this hotel from October 6th 2022 to October 10th 2022. On the first night of our late arrival after a long day of traveling (near midnight local time) I was given my room key and was told my room number by the front desk staff member. As soon as I opened the door to my room it was obvious that it was not clean and looked as if someone had recently used both the washroom and the bed. When informing the front desk staff member of the error he stated that the entire hotel was under renovation and he wasn't sure why they had remained open. He then informed me that the attached restaurant was closed, the hot tub was closed and that there were no vending machines on site at the time of this renovation. He said that we should have recieved an email regarding the change in services but no one in my party had recieved any such email. We were then provided with a different room. This room was cleaner than the last but was still very warn out, there was a mysterious stain on the office chair and what looked to be a deceased bug on the lampshade. When we attempted to use the hot water we found that there was none available. Exhausted we decided to sleep the night and sort it out in the morning. In the morning we discovered that the other room that our party was staying in also did not have any hot water. When informing the staff they expressed that they were aware of the problem and that they would be getting someone to repair the hot water situation as many guests had similar complaints. There was no hot water in the hotel for two nights out of our stay. It was only after speaking with the staff many times that we were offered $100 off our over $200 night rooms. Without being able to offer basic services such as hot water or a minimum standards of cleaning the rooms were basically the equivalent of camp sites in my opinion and the person's paying shouldn't have been charged whatsoever. I find it quite deceitful to offer services in advertisements and then not follow through with any of them in practice. I would strongly advise no one stays at this hotel.

Rooms were a little dated and didn't have many towels, but overall a nice place to stay.

Check in time is listed as 3pm , I arrived at 415 and was told my room was not available. I was told to wait 20 minutes, and offered a voucher for a drink in the bar. Manager came out , gave me a different room. More than one person at the desk would alivaite line ups. Just really poor customer service, I will not be back

The hotel was busy and that’s probably why we paid >$250 for a room. Was NOT a $200/night quality hotel. Thin walls, basic amenities. The obnoxious thing was despite how busy it was they seem to have only one guy on for check in, phones, reservations, room issues. He was lovely and working really hard but lines were long. Part of the reason they were long was how poorly supplied the rooms were. Reservation for 2 but only one towel in the bathroom, for example. Everywhere is critically short staffed, used to be covid was the excuse for all the bad service now it’s short staffing and to be honest I suspect it’s impossible to survive in Victoria on what hotels are used to paying.

It would be an ok place to stay if it was at all reasonably priced. Rooms are dated complete with mildew grout in the bathroom. The floors are laminate, and movement above sounds like it's in your room. Had a kitchen room that was attached to another room with no way to secure from our side and it smelled like old cooking.

Room shares a wall with the elevator and the ice machine, which luckily is out of order. Bed is hard and lumpy, decor is old and out dated. Fridge is leaking water and iced up. Not working. Room is stale and smelly. Front door parking is reserved for the bar patrons and they tow if you leave the car there all night. Front desk is rude, disinterested, does not let you know where to park. Even the pictures and paint are dull dirty looking. This place is a dump, there are much better hotels in the area for the same price or cheaper. By pass this one.

Horrible experience ever. The reception staff tends to receive additional fee multiple times. Booked via IHG app, but the conditions didn't applied, e.g., no deposit fee, including breakfast. The room wasn't cleaned appropriately, so we found dust around the sofa bed. The light bulb which wasn't working never replaced while I requested to fix. The room was smelled of marijuanas because "unofficial smoking area" was in front of the room. Not recommend.

The Howard Johnson Hotel at Elk Lake in Victoria is a Great place to stay. It was very easy access the Hotel and had lots of free parking. It had great access to downtown and other places. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Worst experience. The staff was not professional at all. Specially a long white haired guy was very disrespectful and talked to us in a bit offensive manner. He could’ve said his issue in a politer manner. More professionalism can be used.
