Okay overall but 18$ for a tofu bowl with 4 pieces of tofu, very few vegetables and a very small portion size left a lot to be desired.

Food is decent but service is quite slow. Feels pretty disorganized for all the staff that’s on at a time.

Good food I love the scones but started bringing my own butter, their portions are a small whipped product.
The noise levels are sometimes hideous.

A friend decided to drop in to Ruth and Deans for a treat as we visited the Oak Bay area. Today I ordered their cheese scones, breakfast sandwiches and muffins. What makes this interesting is the trip in a taxi from James Bay. Why? This HAS TO BE the most unique gem in the area. The daily soups along with their delicious menu accents a bakery that is shall I say, Homey. As I looked around every seat was taken, the aromas of coffee and treats made my decision easy. I will visit again. Thank you Ruth and Dean bakery. From the smiley faces on the patrons and young ladies making all this possible. Made my day. 5 stars for sure. For the kitchen staff 6 stars.
First time visitor...food was excellent, no complaints there!
Service and atmosphere left something less....tables were dirty from previous patrons (people were wiping/cleaning them off themselves). Shelving separating eating areas was visibly dusty! Garbage can beside dirty dish pans was full to over flowing. Crumbs beneath our table (from a small child possibly). Two staff persons, though not very busy were standing about talking and looking at phones! Shouldn't they be busy cleaning tables and making sure everyone spotless?

The service was lovely, Madi helped us pick out two tasty breakfast items. She was happy to provide insight on the many items that were on the menu. After receiving our food we received a prompt check in on the quality of our food. Of which we had no complaints. I was very impressed at how Madi made an effort to make our visit a good one. Thanks Madi!

Léa and Caít make the most AMAZING skin extra hot earl grey tea misto. The service is the most friendly in town and the service is excellent. The chicken noodle soup, bounty bowl and breakfast sandwich are the best in town. Billie cookie is my favourite sweet treat.

We visit the café regularly and enjoy it every time. Coffee, soup, and a pastry always satisfy. We particularly enjoy interacting with the staff: each young woman is very much herself and a breath of fresh air... in a stodgy neighborhood.

The staff are so rude. I stood at the counter for a few minutes before being served and even then, the wait staff was so cold. No smile, no thank you.
The food is decent but it takes forever to arrive, even soup, which just needs someone to pour it into a bowl! Underwhelming.

Sometimes good coffee (hit or miss) and a nice selection of treats. However the last time I was here a fly was flying around the display case landing on all the food, wasn’t impressed with that.
Great great iced dirty chi latte! And their banana bread 😍😍😍, great for breakfast or a quick coffee. Never not tasty!
