Ruth & Dean - Luncheonette & Bakery

Three of us sat outside with our dog. It was a lovely day. The server was very helpful checking ingredients for my allergies. She checked with the chef and gave me the best grilled cheese with tomato sandwich and made a lovely London Fog. We were very happy with the food and atmosphere.

My go-to coffee/treat shop in Oak Bay. Great aesthetic. I always walk in thinking “I’m just going to get a coffee” and I end up coming out with a handful of goodies. Oh.. and the breakfast sandwich… wow.

There are no glutten free baked goods and or quick bite to go with coffee. The staff were good but did not engage with customer.

The breakfast sandwich is unmatched, and I promise you have not lived until you’ve experienced the absolutely abundant rice krispy treat!
You will not be disappointed visiting this local gem. Put it on your -to visit- list asap. ♥️

Second time here but again not friendly staff and had to go in yet again to receive my food even though my number was clearly visible on the table outside. Nice size and space but very transactional staff

This is a great tea or light lunch spot. There is plenty of room, and it is blissfully quiet. And all that despite the fabulous, perfect cake they made for me previously. A lovely bakery.

Consistently Disappointing
Every visit is the same—unacceptably long wait times (25 minutes for a grilled cheese!) and staff who seem completely uninterested in helping or even acknowledging the delay. No urgency, no care. Disappointing, every time.

First time at this coffee, I had a tasty croissant and a cortado. Lea, the manager, creates such a welcoming and well run space.
Highly recommended.

Nice staff and neat atmosphere... Just a bit too artisanal for us (a tad too pricey for a coffee and breakfast...)
