Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Coming to McDonald's Across the US

Krispy Kreme is bringing its famous doughnuts to McDonald's restaurants all over the United States. This expansion will start in Chicago in fall 2024 and move faster than planned.

By the end of 2024, you'll find Krispy Kreme doughnuts in 1,000 McDonald's stores. The number will grow to 6,000 by 2025 and 12,000 by 2026 - about 85% of all McDonald's in the US.

Josh Charlesworth, Krispy Kreme's CEO, says they're working hard to get ready, with a dedicated team making sure the company’s facilities and people are set. Krispy Kreme is also improving its production lines and trying to be more efficient.

The company is hiring more workers, training them, and improving its delivery system so that McDonald's gets fresh doughnuts every day.

McDonald's will offer three popular Krispy Kreme doughnuts: the Original Glazed, Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles, and Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled. You can buy them one at a time or in boxes of six, all day long. But there's a catch – they'll only be available until they sell out each day.

This team-up started with a test in 160 McDonald's in Kentucky and it worked well-enough to go nationwide. Tariq Hassan from McDonald's says this is an exciting new step for their breakfast menu.

For Krispy Kreme, this deal will double the number of places selling their doughnuts in the US. Charlesworth mentioned that people often ask them to bring Krispy Kreme to their towns. Now, with McDonald's help, many more communities can enjoy fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts daily.

To make this work, Krispy Kreme is planning big changes. They'll add 30 new doughnut-making hubs in three years, with hubs serving more stores – from 50 now to over 100 by 2026.

For example, in Chicago, they'll send doughnuts to 450 new places using the same number of hubs they have now. They're also opening new hubs in cities like Seattle, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia.
