Krispy Krunchy Chicken Plans Record-Breaking Expansion in 2025

The convenience store fried chicken chain has big plans for 2025. After setting a company record with 605 new locations in 2024, Krispy Krunchy Chicken aims to surpass that number in 2025.

The Louisiana-based company now runs over 3,200 locations in 47 states, making it a major player in store-within-store restaurant segment. To put this growth in perspective: Starbucks opened 614 new stores in the same time period.

"We've grown on the solid foundation of prioritizing the profitability of our operators through a cohesive brand strategy, strong foundational partnerships and a focus on innovation," said Jim Norberg, CEO of Krispy Krunchy Chicken. "These efforts have driven a significant increase in interest throughout the industry, and we continue to be sought out as the preferred foodservice offering."

The 36-year-old concept has found success by making it easy for convenience stores, truck stops, universities, and even casinos to serve fresh fried chicken without costly franchise fees. They just need basic cooking equipment to begin.

2024 was a big year for the brand. Its updated Cajun Chicken Sandwich earned industry recognition, winning CSP's 2024 Retailer Choice Best New Products Contest. The company also launched a $4 Value Meal and expanded into third-party delivery services.

The delivery rollout, which includes partnerships with DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub, has been a hit. "On Thanksgiving, we saw our volumes nearly double, and Christmas Day delivered sales at nearly four times our usual rate," Norberg noted.

For 2025, the company will work on enhancing its brand. This includes launching new products and platforms, while streamlining operations through technology like the Olo platform, which has already helped nearly 500 locations manage delivery services with ease.
