McDonald's Meets Genshin Impact in Limited-Time Collab
Fast food meets fantasy gaming in an unexpected crossover event. McDonald's is joining forces with the hugely popular video game Genshin Impact for a limited-time promotion.
Starting September 17, fans can snag exclusive in-game rewards and special menu items, but there's a catch - they're only available through the McDonald's app.
The star of the show is the Genshin Impact Apple Pie. It's the classic McDonald's treat, but with a twist. The packaging features two beloved characters from the game, Kaedehara Kazuha and Beidou.
Buying the pie in the app unlocks some serious perks for gamers. They'll score 40 Primogems, three Golden Apple Pastries, and a special recipe to power up their characters in the fantasy world of Teyvat.
Then there's also a Genshin Impact Deluxe McCrispy Meal up for grabs. It comes with a chicken sandwich, fries, the limited-edition apple pie, and a drink. Ordering this meal through the app grants players exclusive in-game goodies like a unique "Wind Glider" and a fancy "Namecard" to show off on their adventures.
Genshin Impact, made by HoYoverse, has taken the gaming world by storm. It's racked up nearly 140 million downloads and boasts millions of daily players since launching in 2020.
For McDonald's, tapping into this dedicated fan base with app-only rewards is part of their strategy to boost active app users by 2027 to 250 million, up from 150 million now.
This type of collaboration is not new for McDonald’s. They had an app-only collab with a popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen earlier this year.
