“This is a review for the Subway Sandwich location at Alameda's Southshore Shopping Center. It's located on the backside of the mall, near the Starbucks and Bagel Cafe. I carry a "reloaded" Subway gift card*, so payment is super easy and fast. I was at Subway@ Southshore on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and the mall parking lot was jammed with cars. When I entered the restaurant, there was one person waiting to order. I guess he couldn't decide what to order, and he allowed me to go ahead of him. I stepped up and ordered "#1 The Philly" from the Subway Series menu. I asked for Italian bread and Swiss Cheese. By now, more customers were in line, and more staff came out to help. The young man helping me was very friendly and experienced. I added mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles and jalapeños to my footlong sandwich. Now, when he was making the sandwich it looked fairly large. But when you unwrap it, it looks smaller. "The Philly" is nothing like what you might get at a cheese steak shop. It's not a heavy sandwich. The sandwich itself was okay. I asked for extra mayo to make sure it wouldn't be dry. The restaurant interior was very clean and bright with a modern decor. Additional toppings upon request. One neg: They didn't put a napkin in the bag. * a reloaded Subway gift card is a gift card with added funds. You go on the Subway website or app, open an account, and click on "payments." Then you click "gift cards" and gives you an option to add funds.“
“New menu has great options and ordering is quick. Always fresh ingredients. Don't like the new Italian Herb & Cheese bread as much as before but still delicious. Toasting is the only way to go. Staff changes often but always pleasant,clean and hard working.“
